~A PROFUSE APOLOGY...AND THEN SOME..~

You cannot see the missing upper teeth in this photo, or the lower ones..but..I am determined to save the rest of my smile. This photo was taken December 2007 and it seemed a downhill slide from then on with my teeth.

Well, I went to the dentist yesterday to get my stitches removed...settled in chair with a good magazine. One I had never seen before...but it had a great story about when your parents get older...their changes of personality...etc. :(
Kinda scared me! You sweet people WILL tell me if I suddenly seem...a bit surly? Cranky? Snippy?
Judgemental? Promise me this..

So..anyway...the dentist came in gave me a SHOT and then removed my stitches..said everything looked good and now I had to wait until January to get my two teeth! Can you imagine? I had a bone graft..two in fact..so that is the reason.

He then told me that the lower three teeth could not be implanted due to loss of bone..but if I liked I could have a neat device put in that would be nearly as good.
They would put in a post and the missing teeth would SNAP in place...solid. Then he showed me a model...and how it worked. Told me to try it..I did...it didn't work. He showed me once again and this time it flew out of my hand...hit the concrete floor and all the front teeth broke off!!

I apologized...he was nice...(at least he didn't call me an clumsy idiot.) He was mumbling something about trying to glue them back when I left.
Would you believe I have to GO BACK THERE..again!
Why was I born??!!

Love and hugs,
Mona

Well, you and I would be a pair. I broke the top part of my arm last Sunday. Wouldn't we be a pair???
    Take care.

  3. Oh, that that's a first, not heard of that happening, don't worry, you are now a very special patient Mona! I am sorry you have to go back, is the pits, I know. But just think, when it's all over and done with, you'll have a million dollar smile!

    Have a peaceful night!

  4. OK maybe I'm just getting old and I'm mean but I was laughing at the picture I had in my mind of this taking place. I don't think I would have been able to hold back my laughter if I would have been there and seen those teeth flying out of your hands.

Sure hope you are not in pain from your stitches.

    Hugs,
    Joanne

  5. Thinking back on this... a while from now anyway you're sure to laugh about it! Maybe he'll forget you did it... one can hope haha.
Also, congrats on getting implants at least on the top. I want implants as well someday, but it'll probably wait til my kids are all moved out.. in about 11 years heh. Maybe by then I'll have gotten over the fear of the pain and dentists in general. Doubt it though.

  7. Dearest Friend,

Yes, you have a beautiful smile and you are beautiful inside and outside.

Gee, an accident, something slips out of a hand and breaks. It's an accident and they do happen. The dentist can fix it (he fixes human's teeth) so there shouldn't be a problem. (o:

He "should" have made a joke about it and put you at ease. Please don't beat yourself up with worry. It was an accident. Smile...

  14. Dear Miss M...

I'm suppose to be off...not blogging...not stressing...just doing nothing. But...I saw your comment from a couple of days ago and just couldn't stay away another minute.

I know why you were born!

    Yes I do!

It's because people like me need people like you. Your warm encouragement, your gentle spirit and your hysterical wit help to keep those of us who sometimes live wayyyy tooo deep, grounded.

Remember...God doesn't call the qualified He qualifies the called.

    You are called.

    And I love you.

  18. What!? What is going on with your teeth anyways?
Actually I thought it was a bit funny about dropping the model. That is something my sister might do.....we sometimes call her lucy.

    How is your hubby doing>

  19. Hi there! Came upon your blog through Ash Tree Cottage and visited for a bit.

Of all the physical inconveniences and changes brought about by this delightful "maturing" process we get to go through, the dental problems that crop up are the most awful to me (at least so far!). I HATE going to the dentist. And dental work costs soooo much! Annoying, annoying!

Anyway, you made me laugh and nod my head in agreement. That's all it takes....I'm your newest follower!

    Nice to meet you.

    Mel

  20. Oh dear, oh dear, that wasn't fair, was it! I'm sure it will all be all right in the end though (smiling, with gaps!). I had a root canal last week and go next Wednesday to collect my new crown. I hope it gets into my mouth before someone drops it!!
On Tuesday, I go with my son for him to have two wisdom teeth out. He's going to be sedated so may be a bit groggy afterwards. He's 6ft. 4ins. so I hope he's not too groggy!
My friend, Jim, got a new bridge last week so it's all dentist's visits for the pair of us, it seems.
    Blessings, Star

  21. Oh how exciting about your grandson. I know you must be so proud of him. No, I wasn't watching the program, I just had my head inside the bookcases working on the beadboard, but at least we were both hearing the same thing. Thanks bunches for your sweet comments. I hope you are feeling better too. Hugs, Marty

  22. Boy! When it rains it pours for you, Mona! Glad hubby is doing fine .... sorry about the teeth. I love my implants & had also thought about the insert when the time comes ... now your experience kind of scares me ... wouldn't that be the pits in public if they didn't anchor! Funniest home videos scene for sure.

Sorry I am so far behind in writing but we've been so busy with the new house ... I'll try to be better.

Have a lovely summer day ~

  24. Oh my, that would freak me out. I had to get dentures almost 19 years ago now. I had gran mal seizures and broke almost every tooth in my mouth. YOu wouldn't believe the quote to fix if I told you but I could've bought a cheap new car with it. I went with dentures as at the time we didn't know what was wrong only that my bones were affected. You can always add implants but I couldn't risk my bones shattering. Best of luck with your teeth... maybe on the back you could add velcro so they won't fly out again. Hugs. Tammy
