~OFF AND RUNNING~

I finally got started on decorating.  To be honest, it was difficult.  This has been a strange year for us.
Keeping busy and going through the motions helps.  Making things pretty, using my imagination and trying to put old things in a new ways...

The mantel...is done.  At least for now.

I had trouble with blogger this evening..so I am giving up.  This photo is not clear but out of 20 some odd pictures, this one is the only one even half way showable.  I'm sorry.
I have antlers in my home because my late husband was a hunter and fisherman.  I know some do not approve..but everyone's life is different.  Frank loved the outdoors.  That's who he was.
So..back to decorating tomorrow.  This picture was taken in th middle of the day with no flash.
Strange.

We are getting rain for the next four days.  I DO love rainy weather.
We did the garage sales on Saturday..I have to share my finds with you tomorrow.  Ok?
Just wait 'til you see! :):)

Love'n hugs,
Mona

  3. Good moring Mona: Always nice to see a post from you, whether it has photos or not, or even if it is only a few lines. Its always a thrill to hear from you.
Your mantle reminds me of my granny's house at Christmas, except my grandfather had a set of Moose Antlers over HIS fireplace. This would attract my eyes immediately, because someone that went hunting created a trophy of a proud moment. My Dad used to cure and dry Antlers, Wings, hides, etc, so our double garage was always busy with Dad preparing a trophy from someone's hunt. I think most people that would detest this, have never depended on this food substance to live or get through the winter. Love it, cozy, pretty, bright, old n new blend very well together. Always a real treasure to read your POSTS. Do take care dear Mona, and blessings to you and your family.

  7. There are many ups and downs in our life isn't there. I'm in a little bit of a down time myself. But Christmas is coming along with the knowledge of Baby Jesus coming into this sad world to save us. So how can be stay down for very long we have so much to be thankful for.

  11. Mona, I had trouble with blogger last week. I'm always glad I don't have a baseball bat anywhere near the computer room when that happens! Your mantel is beautiful! I can't wait to see what treasures you found!

  12. Your mantel is so lush and beautiful. The clock is wonderful. I like the antlers and it is nice to display things that mean a lot to you. I think they fit right in with your other mantel decorations. A while back I had a post that blogger seemed to be giving me problems on, and when I checked the preview everything looked pretty good, but when it published there were all kinds of problems with spacing and alignment and even the photos did not come out the same as they did in the preview. I still don't know how I managed to make that happen.

  13. That looks just beautiful! and the antlers fit in perfectly!

I have one antler from a small deer that I found in Hectors mouth one day last year :-) Would look strange to put that one up though :-) :-) :-)

    Have a great day!
    Christer.
