I inherited this couch when I married Patient Husband. It's a VERY GOOD couch. I mean, well made and a ...rather...nice bland color of taupe (I think.) PH is very into keeping something until it turns to sawdust. Frugal is the word...and that's a good thing..because, after raising seven children..I just sort of feel it's my time to...you know..indulge.
Not a lot. Just a bit! :)
Ok..I HATE that couch. The color? Well, that, but it's just that it was not my choice...so when I moved in four years + ago..I moved it from the front room to the family room..and drowned it in pillows.
I kind of like it. :)
I mean, it IS the family room after all.
(THANK God this isn't "Rate My Space! I would probably be kicked to the curb...but since it isn't...I really sort of like the look. (and I did fix the little squares so they are straight across the back...)
I insist that Fall get here. 101 yesterday!
Hugs,
Mona :)
Love it! I get a lot of ideas from you, so keep them coming!
ReplyDeleteOh I love that quilt so I love the couch. Looks great. I know it is 109 here. Way too hot. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteHi Mona,
ReplyDeleteI think the sofa looks great! Think about it, now you can have a new couch anytime you want...just by changing the quilt/slipcover. Love it! Have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs and Kisses,
♥Ana
Love the quilt. It is very Mary Engelbreit looking- Love it - xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI think the couch looks very cozy. I have an old couch that I keep a quilt on and hope someday to get new cushions. Until then I just let people think I am covering something special! lol!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday, Mona!
XO,
Jane
I can't be a judge of the couch since I can't see any of it ;) but I am sure LOVING that quilt you have on it!! I think the whole thing looks lovely and inviting. And if it gets dirty you have the ability to throw it in the wash and put it right back on.
ReplyDeleteMona, Every time I read you blog you make me smile. You have done so well to disguise that couch. It looks great like it is and only you and PH know what is underneath...
ReplyDeleteHugs
Looks good! It's OK to be frugal but maybe one day you can get one of your choice?..well, for now it looks like you have a good solution. Have a good weekend and I do hope it cools down. Today was almost like fall..73de! But the hot will return on Sunday...I'm looking forward to fall too!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt looks good on it. I tried that on mine but it wouldn't stay in place. Couches are the hardest things to change out. I would just get rid of my ugly one but it is too heavy. I think you did well with yours.
ReplyDeleteBe careful in that heat. I am so not liking summer.
I like what you did with the couch you hate! Now it just looks warm and cozy with that pretty quilt and the lovely pillows.
ReplyDeleteI do appreciate interior decorating a lot.(much more than gardening) There is nothing I like better than fixing up my home to look warm and inviting. I have mine just about the way I want it, although I need to go to Home Goods and see if I can't find something interesting to put on my bedroom walls. I get tired of looking at the same things after a while. We have lived in this house for 22 years, the longest either of us has been in one home. It really does feel like home
Hi Mona! Oh, well, I love what you've done with the sofa you don't really care for. The quilt over it is lovely and I love the pillows. I have that same fabric on my little cafe curtains in my breakfast room and on a couple of pillows on my sofa in the den.
ReplyDeletebe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Well I like that couch! sandie
ReplyDeleteWell I am a red lover so I like the couch. It looks awfully cozy and kind of reminds me of argyle. Glad you came over for a visit!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jann
Yes, I have, dear Mona---we used to have the most OPINIONATED rocking chair, and then there was that hutch that wouldn't shut up about the way I loaded the dishwasher, and . . .
ReplyDeleteOh, my Dear---you and your Dearie are just the sweetest couple, and you home is warm and welcoming just EVERYWHERE.

I like your couch with the quilt on it. I have a couch that should be kicked to the curb. I blush when I say, I bought a khaki colored slip cover for it. But, you must know before you judge, ha,ha, it was floral all over. I have had this couch almost 15 yrs!! I am tired of floral....okay! LOL The couch is very comfy and that's the only reason I have kept it! Yes, fall needs to arrive!
ReplyDeleteI keep stuff until it turns to sawdust too:) Although I have really been wanting new furniture for my family room! 10 years old, sofa/loveseat... still comfortable! I guess I will wait a while longer! I also have colorful pillows to drown out the dullness of the sofa:) Have a blessed day, love the quilt!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. I thought I slept on my neck wrong. It is getting better each day but it has been over a week.
ReplyDeleteHope you are doing okay these days.
LOL...when I married my husband everything he owned was a dull shade of brown...out the door it went!
ReplyDeletelol, the couch looks great...Pillows are the next best thing...I love a cozy couch...Happy Saturday nice to see you again...with love Janice
ReplyDeleteTruth be told...I have some inherited "treasures" as well :)
ReplyDeleteBalisha
I like how you made that couch into one that you could live with. The quilt is beautiful, I think.
ReplyDeleteI love your post about arguing with the furniture! I sure have some furniture that I would like to argue with! Thank you for sharing on my linky party. I hope you will come again soon! Have a fantastic Sunday!
ReplyDeleteMo a, the colors on the couch look like fall, so maybe they can fool you into feeling cooler. Our temps have cooled down a bit, but may be on the rise to the 90s this week.
ReplyDeleteDuring the month between Thanksgiving and Christmas I cover my sofas with Christmas quilts and this reminds me of how they look. I love this look and am thinking about getting some quilts that I like to use on the sofas the other 11 months of the year. Enjoy your week. Hugs
ReplyDeleteMona I like how you jazzed up the couch. It looks nice with the pillows.
ReplyDeleteYou have definitely improved that sofa!
ReplyDeleteMy husband can be overly frugal about furniture as well. Kind of makes me a little bit crazy.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks cozy and inviting now. I am with you on not liking this crazy heat!
ReplyDeleteHi Mona, been missing any recent posts, dear blogging friend. Just checking in to make sure all is OK with you and yours, as I know there have been (and are) lots of things going on in your family. I sadly misplaced your email address so could not send a personal message. Do know that I am thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteLove this look!
ReplyDeleteI like this look, too, Mona....I smile each time I see this quilt...several of us in Blogland have it. :))
