~IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS....~

...a cool place to sit in the early morning hours..when it's quiet out and the little birds are brave and don't mind my presense...
listening to the water fountain..and wild canaries..

...and sometimes God.
My chair..
At a garage sale I came across the book "Sense and Sensibility."  I have watched the movie, many times (because I do that sort of thing!) and loved it so I was looking forward to reading the book.
What...a...challenge!!
I would sometimes read a sentence to Sweet Husband and ask him to translate.  LOL  Was I KIDDING??
He would just look at me blankly.  Aw well...I mean after all, it was written in the 1700's.
I finished it night before last and loved every  minute of my struggle.  Honest, I did!
**************
An update on my daughter, Sandy.  She is struggling but doing ok.  Any of you out there that has been where she is, knows what is happening with her...she rests a lot.  We are all with her, cheering for her, and those of us who are not with her physically are with her in spirit.  We all have plans to visit her soon...

God and I are now on first name basis...He knows how much I love my daughter.  We talk a lot.  Usually in the early morning hours on the front porch.  Just He and I alone....in the garden.
I find myself promising Him I'll be good, just like I did when I was a child.
I think He understands.

Love,
Mona

  1. Sweet Friend,

Just keep talking to Him. He knows your heart, your struggles and your fears. He wants it ALL - all of it, so surrender and try to put it all in His loving hands.

You don't have to make promises - remember, He created YOU - just the way you are.

Smile, sweet friend - He loves you, and I love you.

    Blessings.

  2. I'm praying for your daughter and your sweet family. I know how hard it can be! God will comfort you, my friend! And you should read more of the Jane Austen books now! They get MUCH easier after you get through the language of the first one you read! Try to find Pride and Prejudice! You'll love it! ♥

  3. Hi Mona! Your porch is so beautiful! Still praying for your daughter and your family. You just keep on talking to God - He loves you, He loves Sandy.
I don't know what I would do if I didn't have a relationship with Jesus. You take care, sweet friend.
    Blessings,
    Shelia ;)

  4. I have been saying many prayers for Sandy and your family. I hope she gets her rest and is surrounded by the love of her family and friends. I can see why your porch would be such a wonderful place for reflection. It's cozy and colorful and I love the wicker and ferns {my favorite!}

I read Pride And Prejudice and admit I stopped halfway because I had such a problem understanding the dialogue! I had that problem with Jane Eyre also but plugged along and now it is one of my favorite all time books!!

    Take care, sweet Mona!

    XO,
    Jane

  5. Hi Mona...
You have such a sweet place to spend time with God..
    Looks so very peaceful...

Still keeping your daughter in my prayers...I really do not know what is going on with her, and if you would like, I'd love for you to email me and let me know, so I can be specific when I pray...If not, then I just keep praying...God knows!
    Hugs to you.

  9. All the sweetness in this Post!! It's a bright, rosy spot in the morning---the quiet reverie, the faith, the love, the prayers.

And what better spot to read Miss Austen! I got a NOOK for Christmas, and hadn't had the nerve to try to download something and use it, but when Sis was here, she put a lot of books on it, including a wonderful offer of "25 Classics for 99 cents"---including all the Austens.

Emma and I are progressing right now; she's just met Mr. Frank Churchill, and I'm writing down some of the archaic words and phrases which I find so charming.

It's 8:03 where I am---I'm telling myself that you're on your shady porch in the sunrise, amongst the charming GREEN setting, and I close my eyes and meditate with you.

  15. Your porch is beautiful! Would you like to come decorate mine? I find that early morning is one of the best times to talk with our Heavenly Father. He knows your heart. I am sure it's not pleasant what you daughter is going thru. Nothing of that sort ever is but she is strong and she has her family and her mom who loves her. God bless you all!

  18. I'm trying it again. (to leave a comment, I mean.) I love your porch - how peaceful looking. Just the place you need to talk with your Lord. He really does understand our heart, doesn't he. I could not get thru life without him. Connie (Everyday Blessings)

  21. Oh Mona, what a beautiful family you have. I will pray for Sandy, too. You have a beautiful porch. I love white wicker. When we had our house, I had a wicker swing. I spent a lot of time with God in that swing. (Still have it, just in storage, though.) Your blog is wonderful and so pretty. I will be back to do some more reading of your posts.
