~A LOVE OF HOMEMAKING~

This little pillow reacquainted me with a lovely person I met on ebay some years ago..and then lost last year.

My hobby is homemaking and I love it. Would it make sense then that I love to clean?
I am a "closet" cleaner I guess. I remember I used to deny my love for cleaning. Back in the fifties..everyone wanted to get out of the home and go to work. Not me. I really enjoyed being a homemaker.
I loved to wash and iron..hang beautiful white clothes on the line...(we used to do that you know) and there was such a joy and satisfaction in seeing it all finished and beautiful. I haven't changed. Of course there were bad times when I HAD to work..but being home was what I loved.

Decorating is one of the most rewarding things I do. I love buying things for my home...always have.
Then I discovered ebay and all sorts of things, usually Shabby Chic things..quilts, pillows, dishtowels became available to me. Things that were different. Things handmade and some old and beautiful things and some just second hand. Mostly though I found I was interested in handpainted items, exceptional sewing and crafts.
Things I no longer do and things that someone does much better than myself.

Rebecca of A GATHERING OF THOUGHTS is someone I met on ebay years ago. I loved her work and had lost her for awhile. Then one day I found her in our community of bloggers and was overjoyed.

I have a hand painted lamp by her, pillows and as many things as I could get. Her tiny Christmas tree, cross-stitched onto a beautiful little pillow is my favorite I think.

I fell in love with this lovely little pillow and it is going in our guest room. My favorite room in the house.

Since I found her again..I have been catching up..and added a few of her lovely pillows to my collection. I am also thinking of Christmas! I have daughters and granddaughters that would love one of Rebecca's creations! IF I CAN PART WITH THEM!

Look how beautifully her pillows come packaged. And always with a little gift to make you feel special..

Thank you, Rebecca. Everything is just beautiful. I appreciate your hard work! Your beautiful creations are treasured items in my home.

Love and smiles,
Mona

P.S. I just learned yesterday that I am the proud winner of Gloria's giveaway at HAPPY TO BE. Can you hear my feeties doing the HAPPY DANCE??! Move over Snoopy!! Thank you, Gloria!

  4. Dear Ms. Mona...

You know...I heard from an eBay buyer not long ago that said "I haven't bought from you in a long time...I bet you forgot me!" NOPE...never have forgotten a single one! Some I know better than others...but I remember them all.

I remember well the day you came into my life. I remember all your stories and your beautiful face, especially your smile. When I found you here in the Blog World I thought I might faint...You were a JOY to me once and now you are a JOY to me again.

In these times of financial crisis you can't imagine how much I appreciate your faithful business and support. More than that I LOVE your friendship and all that it means to me. You are a wise, wise woman and I so long to be more like you!

Thank you for the tip of your hat and for sharing my love of all things beautiful. You honor me and you bless me....you do! YOU DO!

May the goodness you show to others come back to you 100-fold. I know things haven't always been easy for you and trust me...the feelings you've shared with me about your most *beloved* have inspired me...and others. You make us want to love longer and better...

Love to you from the deepest part of my heart...

Huggers of the best kind are squeezing you tight...can you feel them? Thank you friend.

    Love, Rebecca

  6. First, congrats on winning the giveaway! Second, you're not the only one that likes to clean and I'm not a closet cleaner... show me a dirty house and I'm there and I even do windows. For me, it's relaxing.

  7. I was brought up by a woman who did not care for housekeeping, and I never enjoyed it myself. However, as I get older, the thought of staying home and baking bread and keeping the house and just taking care of things is becoming more and more appealing.

I mentioned that to my husband recently and he looked at me like I'd lost my mind. I can't explain it myself, except that perhaps I'm getting into retirement mode early.

  8. The pillows are just lovely. I do agree, there is such joy in loving your home. I miss those sheets, fresh off the clothes line. Nothing smelled so sweet as freshly laundered linens.

    Thank you for sharing.

  9. Oh those pillows are beautiful! I would have a hard time giving those away too! And there's no dryer sheet in the world that has the wonderful smell of clean sheets that have been hung out to dry! Ahhhhh! (although my backyard has too many trees - I used to try and they just became "target practice" for the birds!) :(
