~A WARNING...~

Be very careful what you say you will NEVER, EVER, do again!  For me this seems to always be EXACTLY what I do.  When will I ever learn?  At this stage of my life, probably....never.

This past Saturday started out ..lovely.  Daughter #3 and dear son in law came to pick us up and take out to breakfast..and then perhaps if there was time..why..we would just cruise around and see if there were any garage sales.
I'll cut right to the facts.

I swore to myself that I would never buy another bird.  They live a long, long time..and besides I did not want to clean a cage and vacuum up bird seeds ever again.
Right!
We stopped at a garage sale and the next thing I remember was bringing these little guys home in a tiny white cage...
You see...I have lots of cages at home.
*sigh*
My patient husband just looked at me when I got in the car..along with worried looking daughter who had had the good sense to go ask her husband if she could buy one and he emphatically said NO and that was that.  I didn't ask.  Yes, yes, I know I should have..but, I mean, he wasn't paying for them, he wasn't going to have to take care of them and I just couldn't see why, under the circumstances, I should have to "ask"...

So..I didn't.

So far he hasn't asked me for a divorce..but..he did softly say "I thought you were NEVER, EVER, going to have any more birds!"
You see, the dear man has not been married to me that long.  Otherwise he would NEVER, EVER, have said that.

The same thing happened when I had my children...I wanted two..just two and when the seventh one was born...well..never mind.  You get the idea.
All I'm saying is BE CAREFUL!!

Love,
Mona

  4. They are cute little fellas, and I think everyone has a choice to buy or not to buy. You are so fortunate to have easy going PH by your side. Nice to see you going to the sales. I have missed your trips out to the sales with PH. Now, will the birds be on the porch or in the house?

  9. Love the bird house in your new header....You have the most wonderful treasures. I'm so glad your rescued these little cuties and gave them a new home. They are so pretty and even though they can be a little messy, I think the pleasure they bring will be worth the extra work. Great garage sale find.

  11. Dad always warned me to never say never for that very reason. We get to eat those words.

Enjoy the birds. As for me, I will never, uh, I would be reluctant to own a bird again. They are pretty.

  14. Never say never, hu Mona?????? -giggggles-

For myself, I wouldn't want birds or any pet, anymore. But it must be quite lovely, to have real birdsong in your home, most all the time. Where, I have to play a bird song cd, to have it in mine.

But I'd never 'make it,' with the taking care of them. I admit it. ,-) So....

    No more pets, here.

    Hugs,
    Tessa

  19. Mona, your new little birds are very cute. Are they tame enough to sit on your finger or shoulder ? The last(?) bird I had a few years ago was a robin. He didn't have any feathers when I found him, just a little dark fluff in a couple of places. I think that he must have hatched just before the storm. He could barely hold his head up. I hand fed him a slurry of chopped up meal worms and canned cat food every couple of hours with an eyedropper at first until he got to be big enough to pick up food with his beak. One of his feet was deformed when I found him. His name was Spiggy. Fuzzy was extremely jealous of me paying that much attention to that baby bird and feeding it. I got very attached to him, but then found out about a Wild Bird Rehabilitation place we have in our area and took him to them because he was a wild bird, after all. Enjoy your new little sweet tweeties. You're lucky that they eat seeds!

  20. Oh Mona, they are so cute. I love birds. I have so many hummers that I take care of that I really don't need more pets. I have learned never say never, because you will eat your words. LOL I'm sure Howard doesn't mind, he will probably enjoy them.
    Have a great weekend.

  23. You're a nut. LOL My husband would never allow a bird, his first wife had one, oh.... and she also had a monkey. EEEK!! He really doesn't even need to tell me "no", because I would never want a bird, a monkey, or any flying creature in the house Oh wait, monkeys don't fly, except the mean ones on The Wizard Of Oz. LOL Have fun listening to the chirping! xo
