~LAMPLIGHT~

Lamplight has always played a big part in my life.  It was something that I grew up with, something my mother loved.  Even during the daytime..she would have lamps turned on.  I grew up and did the same thing.  Tiny lamps in every corner.

My nest.  Lamplight time is a wonderful time after a long day.  This is where I spend a lot of time.  It's just off the kitchen..and I can turn and nearly touch the oven..  Above me is a skylight, just a small one but enough to give me natural light when I need it.

Patient Husband, or PH as he is sometimes..loves his own little corner to play Suduko in.
As you can see, there is another lamp unlit as it is just dusk outside.

This lamp pretty much stays on all the time except when we go to bed.  Still the room has a tiny nightlight..

Not dark outside yet..but I love the lamplight here in the evenings when we sit out on the lawn swing.
so cozy.
This room is very difficult to take photo's in.  High EMF's I think. :)  Every lamp I own nearly, was bought at garage sales.  This one was $3.00 and I love it.
This is our guest room.  It has four lamps in it.  One one each side of the bed..and one on the desk and dresser.  (AND again I forgot to remove some glass things I sat on my cedar chest to put away later!!  Yep!  Just call me prepared!!)
This little lamp with the pink lady and embroidered shade is from a fellow blogger.
I just wanted to add that the curtains were brought from Ireland by my son and daughter in law.  They know I love roses.
I confess that when guests come..the dolls go!  So do some of the photo's.  In other words, I declutter a bit.  Ok, ok, a lot!! :)

I love delicate hankies or table top doilies over lamps to defuse the light..
The photo is of my husbands first wife.  She lived in this home for over 50 years.  That's a very long time and her imprint is still here.  Mine would be too.  The photo is her senior picture.

Her life lamp faded and went out in this room.  Do I believe she is still here.  I honestly do not know.
I've wondered.  I admit I've wondered.

I am joining one of my very favorite Hostess'  for
TABLE TOP TUESDAY
Thanks, Marty!

Love,
Mona

  2. I love lamplight too, and I love your home. It looks like somewhere you could snuggle up and let the world be somewhere else. I also put pieces of fabric over the lampshade, normally a piece of patchwork because when the light shines through the fabric it looks like stained glass. As for the previous lady of the house,I would think that she is very happy for you to be looking after the house, and turning it into your own home.

  3. I'm a tiny light lover too. I like the little nooks and crannies of my home to be lit. It says Welcome to me! I think it is so neat that you leave her picture there by the bed. Such a nice thing for you to do! Have a delightful day!

  6. Mona,

This is one of the loveliest pieces you've ever done---beautiful and sweet and welcoming gentle light.

The way you arrange things and make cozy places--that's just so comfortable, and you know that that sweet spirit from before is happy that you're the one who is there now---keeping the lamps lit, making home.

  7. Lamp lighting is wonderful in a house. We usually have a few burning during the daytime hours too... especially on rainy days. They're perfect, and getting them for cheap is such a bonus!

  11. There is something very cozy and warm about lamp light. I also grew up with lamp light. It just makes you want to snuggle up on the couch, etc and read a good book, or have a wee nap, or just relax. Really lovely photos - makes your heart feel warm.

I think you are quite the little "nester"..I also think it's so sweet that you have your hubby's first wife's pic on display. It's great to find love more than once in life. Your PH sounds like a sweetie and I think he found a gem in you!

  19. Hi darling, you know how I love lamps this post touched that part of my heart. Your sweet porch would be a wonderful spot to sit each evening. I know you're putting your mark on your home and leaving lasting footprints.
You asked in an earlier post if the shop was connected to our home. Yes, thankfully darling all I have to do is walk downstairs. With all of Mr. P's illness' I have to be here so I have the best of both worlds. I truly enjoyed my visit around your lovely home.

  21. Lovely cosy house Mona. I always love to visit and I'm sure your real guests do too. I have lots of lamps in the apartment in Knoxville too but here in London we don't need them. I came to realise that here, because we have less sunlight, we have more windows and larger to let in more light. Over there it is the opposite. We have so much sunlight, we shut it out and resort to lamps instead. Isn't that interesting.

  24. Mona,
I'm like you, I like lamps like you have..it feels so cozy just looking at your pictures..I would remove the beautiful hankie off the top of that lamp shade, as it might start a fire..You can't be too careful about things like that.

Loved the picture of you and your brother and sister. Maybe the other brother can come another time. I'm sure they enjoyed their visit with you as much as you enjoyed having them there.

Mind sharing where you got the green picket fence and what it's made of? That sure looks like a perfect place to sit and read or just chat about the day's happenings.

  26. I love lamps, too, and leave some on all night long. just the little night-light type lamps. I have always hated overhead lighting...so harsh.
And, I don't think she is still in the room...no, ma'am....
