Puttering is what I do now.  Retirement.  HOW did I ever find time to work??

We have squirrels, Racoon, and today a fat little possum walked carefully across our back fence..paying NO attention to us at all, just very, very carefully...yes...he made it.
Where is my camera??  Where is Mele, the great watch dog???

No matter, back to puttering...
I added a few miniture sunflowers and it brightened up the fountain area so much..
Actually, they were a gift from daughter#2, who came and tucked them in like a professional..

My favorite corner of our front porch and a favorite gathering place for evening chats with neighbors.

I brought out the can of high gloss clear lacquer and gave all the pumpkins a nice coat.  Maybe it will kept the racoons and squirrels away.  So far, so good!

Now I am really getting into the "shine" of I gave the little bail of hay a good dose too!
(Didn't work.  The neighborhood cat who loves my porch and likes to pee pee on my front screen) ...has already begun clawing my HAY!   Every morning I have to go sweep it up!  *expletive* didn't cuss...heavens no!  Who me??  No..that was EXACTLY what I said.
"Expletive, expletive, expletive"  then I felt MUCH better.. :)

I love the way it looks! :)  That is an old grapevine wreath that fell apart years ago and I just couldn't throw it away.  I've had it hanging on the back of my old bench on the for me!

Then I gave Mele's toy rat a dose of black paint and sat him on the window sill.
Mele hates that rat and won't play with it.  It doesn't squeek!  She's funny that way!

Mele and one of her squeeky toys...

Oh...and we also fed the lawn.   DID I say WE???
Thank you, Patient Husband!

Love and hugs,

I am joining our sweet Tootsie @ Tootsie Time for Fertilizer Friday!  Go see what's going on outside!

They look GORGEOUS in the garden that you have created by the fountain...which by the way...I LOVE! Oooh...and your front porch is looking lovely all dressed up in her autumn finery as well! I think the old grape wreath looks pretty under your pumpkin! Thanks for sharing your beautiful autumn with us today, Darlin'...I sooo enjoyed it!

  6. Hi Mona, Your porch looks wonderful. Those pesky cats must make you mad. Don't the pumpkins look great varnished?
Are they the pond you were talking about?
They are well settled in and look really cheery with the sunflowers.

  7. The porch looks lovely. What a great idea, spraying the pumpkins.

Have a wonderful weekend. Oh, as I see it - since you took one of Mele's toys (even one that is not popular) you owe her a NEW one.

  10. Love Mele's rat! Very Halloweenie !

And how would any of us survive without a patient husband. I certainly don't know how I ever got along without mine. :-)

  11. Your little corner of the porch is so inviting...I don't blame cute little Mele for not wanting to play with that rat, squeeker or not, heck it almost as big as she is!

  12. I'm in love with your beautiful water fountain. I don't think I've ever seen a prettier one. And what can I say about Mele...too cute for words! :)

  13. Your sunflowers and grapevine wreath with the pumpkin in the middle...well they just put me in the fall mood! I haven't put my pumpkins out yet because of the squirrels. I think I am going to try the lacquer. t looks good, too!! Give Mele a big hug from me. I don't like rats either!
