This post will show how at times I am not always....there? :)
Enlarge photo for view of my pretty bike (and my wrinkles!) :)
This past Sunday sweet Howard went out and bought me this beautiful bike. (because I whined!)
I was a bit leary as I have not ridden a bike in some years..but as they say..you NEVER forget. In the store I stepped on the peddle and like a scooter tried to see if I could balance it. NO problem..so we added a cute little wicker basket..and a nice "foam" pad for the TINY bottom..and home we came.
I DID GOOD! Can you imagine an old lady like me out there on a bike once again. (now to just not crack my skull..OR break a hip! :)
You will pray for me....won't you? :)
Love and hugs,
Mona
Mona!! I applaud you! My hubs bought me a brand new mountain bike last summer and I have been on it a total of 3 times!! My knees shake when I even think of going for a ride. Isn't that silly? I am just so uncoordinated! I know I am going to crash into a tree or fire hydrant.
ReplyDeleteI love the red color and the cute basket. I just know you are going to have fun. Too bad we couldn't get together for a spin!! :-)
xoxo

You look so cute Mona! I love your new bike! I have been out of commission for awhile, I had surgery. But I'm back! Red is a great color for a bike, it just say's happy!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cindy
You go girl! Literally! I am so proud of you. Now you and Howard can ride together! Don't tell him, but I like your red and white one better.

Good for you! My husband came home the other day and said he was thinking about buying bikes. I said "for what"? And he said "so that we can excercise together". I said " but what about walking together?" He thought that riding a bike would be easier. Easier than walking?! Is it me??? So we will be getting his and hers soon. Pray for me too;)
ReplyDeleteSorry, I didn't sign my comment:)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.

My dearie and I have talked about bikes. We live in the boonies and I'd ride in a heart beat but that loose gravel makes me think twice. You go for it, fire hydrants be darned! 8^)
ReplyDeleteHey...Loose gravel took me down. Be sure to wear a helmet. Now, listen to your blogger Mom!!! They have really cute ones. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteBalisha
Sooooo happy for you! I hope you got a helmet too, or did you already have one. BE SAFE!!

Hi Mona,
ReplyDeleteYou sure look cute holdin up that bike and I can just see you ridin around the neighborhood struttin your stuff! LOL
My bike has three wheels and is called a "trike." My husband figured that three wheels would hold me up better than two!!

ReplyDeleteGrandma, you better wear a helmet. Protect that head of yours. I love you.

ReplyDeleteBiking is such a great way to get around and the health gets so much better too! You can have Mele in the basket too if You like. I remember seing that a lot when I lived in Gothenburg. The first times the dogs may get a bit stressed but they´ll love it after a while!
Great news!
Have a great day now!
Christer.
What a beautiful bike, you were made for each other. Nothing but good times and wonderful rides ahead of you, enjoy.
ReplyDeleteAWWWW, Sweetpea!! You wouldn't whine even if there were diamonds involved!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous velocipede you chose---that bright color and the basket and the sunshine in your hair make the most beautiful picture.
Now spend the day riding---go and fly and feel the wind.
Hi Mona. I think that's great. I love riding my mountain bike. I, too, have a gel seat. You're going to have so much fun. I know you'll just love it.
ReplyDeleteYou go girl!! I love the picture of you and your bike. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Mona, what a beautiful bike! Is it hard to ride without all the gears? It sure is SPIFFY! Love the basket too - all it needs are some silk flowers attached or an american flag! Now you need a pretty sun bonnet!

ReplyDeleteLinda...I tried to email you or to visit your blog and you have none. I was so disappointed. I am hoping you return and read this...
ReplyDeleteYou will LOVE riding a bike once again. The wind in your hair...(oops, I gave aways that I hate the helmet!) but I don't go far. Not yet, and yes I will wear that blasted helmet. At least it is sort of cute...we'll see. :)
Good luck in finding your bike... I hope they will have it!
Hugs,
Mona

ReplyDeleteHello Mona~You'd think it was St.Patty's day with my green showin',lol. I've been trying to convince my hubby to buy me a bike. I want a bike with a wicker basket too. Hubs just keeps giggling by the mere thought of me wobbling down the road. He may have a small point by mentioning the fact that I haven't ridden in over 40 years and he doesn't take into consideration the stationary bike I use to ride at the gym. Well, unfortunately for now the topic has been tabled since I've just had minor toe surgery and will be unable to peddle anything for the next several weeks, but I'll be back to whining shortly.
ReplyDeleteNow you need a spiffy helmet to go with your lovely bike.
"HAPPY TRAILS TO YOU!!"
I haven't seen you for awhile, ride on over sometime.
Sweet wishes,
Sara
Mona, hello! Thank you for visiting me over at Bear Swamp Reflections! I love your story and your blog and I will be a frequent visitor.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about getting a bike recently and I always look lovingly at them when I see them in stores. You have inspired me!
BTW, I love your 'Dancing with Wolves' theme song. I have that soundtrack CD.
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing like the wind in your face as you take to the lanes on a bicycle! I know I look SO forward to it again each spring as it makes me feel like I'm 10 years old...which was a long time ago : ) I am a firm believer in the "use it or lose it" principal, so don't let fear get in the way. Thank you for your kind words. I read YOUR story and it gave me goosebumps. You sound very SPECIAL. xx P&H
ReplyDeleteWell just look at your cute little spunky self! Good for you sweet Mona, you and your sweetie will have a blast sportin' around the neighborhood on your bikes. Look out Mr. Lance Armstrong...Miss Mona's on the loose! You go girl!
ReplyDeleteYou have yourself a safe and wonderful week my friend!
What a great bike!! Awesome story!
ReplyDeleteLike your bike. I'm too unsteady to ride one so joined the gym for exercise last week. Really had a good time today but now I hurt all over. Ah well I guess there's no gain without the pain!
