~DECORATING..AND CHRISTMASTIME BLUES..

I've been missing in action, I know, but my "new" camera will no longer allow me to download my photo's..and I haven't been able to figure out what is wrong and the manual and even phone calls to Samsung, isn't getting me anywhere..
So...
...since I cannot share any of my photo's ...  I'll just do the best I can.
I took this picture of my favorite coffee pot before my camera stopped working. I am trying to get our home decorated for Christmas.  The tree I ordered online arrived on Friday..and I am SO pleased!  It's just beautiful and I will do it again next year.

Hopefully I will get my camera problem figured out and be back.

We...finally have our wet weather..as you may have heard on the news.  When we get rain...we REALLY get rain.  It's called the Banana Express..since it comes from the direction of Hawaii.
More later.  Please don't give up on me.  I'm just slow..and computer and camera problems leave me confused and flustered.

To be honest...I'm fighting the Christmastime blues...the 15th at 3:30 in the morning is the anniversary of Patrick's death. It does get easier as the years pass. It never goes away but it's bearable.

I know this time of year can be a delight..and usually is for me...but things are not always lovely and we can only cope.  Decorating and visiting your blogs is a huge help when I can't sleep and my mind won't turn off and I wonder at my loss.
I also wonder at my good fortune that I've been able to keep going.  Others have suffered worse.

Sometimes I give up and take a pill..it's just an aspirin with Codeine but it helps a lot.
So..that's it. :)

In spite of it all...it's really been a nice December.  I must remember to be thankful that we are together, at least most of us.  With a family as large as mine...it's nearly impossible now.
Yes..I must remember to be grateful!

More rain this week?  Maybe..

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Love,
Mona

  1. Merry Christmas sweetie! Quit beating yourself up about things! You do a great job. Modern technology is wonderful when it works but when it doesn't it's pain!
Glad the tree was what you wanted....so many times it's not. You need some new memories of this day. He wouldn't want those bad ones to be a part of your Christmas. I will be glad to see the tree when you figure out that danged camera!

  2. Holidays are hard for people who have lost loved ones. It does not matter if it has been a week or years since their death. They are still missed especially at those special times of the year.
Its okay to say you are blue, and there is no need to feel badly that you are grieving. God Bless you!!

  3. Mona Honey, I wish I lived closer to help you with your camera - its only technology and usually I can figure out the problem. Sometimes it is just a little button or glitch - if you want send me the info in an email of what or what not the camera is doing and I will try to help. How the heck is my Maine Man. I hope he is relaxin and enjoying watching you boogy aboot the house decorating, eh. I'm hopping about spreading good cheer. All or snow is gone from the huge nor'easter we had a few weeks ago and now it has been raining for 11 days?? Thinking about you honey and how lovely your home looks when you decorate. Take care my California Girl and Maine Man. lol Lilly

  8. Hi Mona! I'm sorry about your camera and hopefully it will get resolved for you. I know it's not the same as a husband, but my Daddy passed away on Dec. 13, 1997 and he loved Christmas so very much and I always miss him so much at this time. Now my little mother has joined him. But I'm so thankful to be close to our daughter's family and those little grandchildren. You take care and I'm sending love.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

I can't even imagine how hard it must be to lose a spouse and glad you have so many blessings in your life to buffer somewhat, that loss. Have a great holiday. Up in the mountains we are thrilled with the rain - it is filling up the lakes so nicely.

  17. I'm so sorry for the sadness you're feeling right now, Mona. I've been there so I know how you feel.
And this is a wonderful forum for you to talk about how you feel because everyone here cares for you.
In spite of everything, I think your spirit is going to allow you to have a wonderful holiday. Sorry about the camera issues. I'm not tech savvy enough to figure any of that out either. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

  18. I know computer and camera woes get me all flustered too. I do hope you find some help.
This Christmas will be a bit sad for me as my aunt and uncle both are gone as of September this year. They almost always had Christmas dinner at my house. I always miss my parents and brothers who we would get together with, too. It will be just the 4 of us, but we do have a good time together and I am thankful for what I have, as I know you are too.
Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!

'Seems the Holidays have been harder on me than at the time Mom passed. I have a dear girlfriend who lossed her Mama about the same time I did and she said, she too is having a harder time....go figure.

You take care darlin' and enjoy all your beautiful goodies and that precious family of yours. You are dear to many.

    God bless ya Miss Mona!!!

  23. Wish I could help with your camera blues! Maybe someone will jump on this message and be able to help. Does the camera have a card and do you have a place to put the card on your computer?
Probably too much to deal with with a new tree and friends visiting too.
Enjoy your next weeks Mona . . . I am excited to see your tree!
    Sending hugs and love . . .

  25. Dear Mona, I bet you just felt like ***####!!!!ing. If techknoigy is going ok then it is fine. If it goes hay wire, then I get cranky. Just because I don't know what to do.
Thinking of you at this time.Wait until you see those grand children and they will put a smile on your face.
I am having a cooking day with my 11 year old today.

  27. My camera stopped allowing me to download or else my comouter did. I researched it online and found a way around it. If you haven't had any satisfaction, let me know and I'll share. It's hard to turn off the memory, and we really wouldn't want to, but you are doing the right thing by remembering all the things to be grateful for as well.

  29. Technology will drive you up the wall, won't it? But, what would we do without it -- now that we're so used to having it? I'm sorry your camera isn't working for you--but I do love and your posts--no matter what you write about. I love your beautiful pictures, but it's always good to see a post from you. Knowing you, you'll have that little camera "bug" worked out soon.

Holidays do bring on the blues--for a lot more people than are willing to admit it, I think! Bless you, Mona! I hope, when the "Big Day" gets here, you will smile at the parts of your family that you still have around you--and they'll know that you're so thankful to have them around you--and they'll be so very thankful you are here for them, too. <3

What a neat and festive coffee pot.

  33. For all of the fun we have with our cameras and computers, they can sure be nerve wracking sometimes, can't they! My computer was down since sometime in November until I got it back from the computer repair shop on Christmas Eve. My husband kept trying different things to get it working and finally gave up and took it to the repair shop. I was so glad to have it back home, but was too busy with family/holiday stuff to even get to use it.

I hope that you were able to get your camera to do right and that your Christmas was lovely.

    Happy New Year!

    Susie D.

  34. Dear Mona, I've had you on my mind so much the last week or so..been so busy and haven't visited as I should. Things after yesterday will settle down to a more normal schedule.
Yes, I get so frustrated when my computer or camera isn't working right..most of the time, tho, it's ME that's not working right. :)
Christmas time IS joyful...but we do miss our loved ones..I lost 2 school mates this Dec and my best friend's husband died a day or two after Christmas. Then, this morning, I received word that a favorite cousin that I love dearly passed away. I've spent most of this day crying..now my eyes are swollen, my nose is stopped up and I have a headache. I, too, take Tylenol PM when I'm a little upset about something. It won't hurt us to take them when we need them.
As I age (I just turned 77), it seems more and more things make me cry at times. I am a marshmallow at heart. :)

  39. Don't you just hate technology problems??? At least you are still trying to blog. I gave up on mine for about 2 years and have just started back. Of course, it will take awhile if ever to get readers to come back but I'm going to try to stick with it. I very much understand your thoughts/feelings on Christmas. We lost our young daughter in 1986. Christmas has never been the same. It's much, much better now that we have grandchildren, but she will always be missed. Hope you are having a Happy New Year so far and that your camera woes will soon be a thing of the past.
