I did not touch those crates of Halloween "stuff" today. There are four of them..and after spending the morning in the dentist chair, I was in no mood to decorate.
However... :)
I DID do a bit yesterday? On Saturday (I think, I lose track of time lately..) I found some of the stuff that I love and will not part with..you know..until I HAVE to.
I did mess around with the mantel a bit..but of course it will continue to change...bit by bit..but I have a beginning...
I did mess around with the mantel a bit..but of course it will continue to change...bit by bit..but I have a beginning...
Problem?
It does not shine. I wanted some sparkle...I don't know..
Anyway...
I think I am a habitual malcontent...I do! Never quite satisfied with the results of my attempts at decor! Everything always looks better in someone else's home..and I wonder "now why can't mine look like that!" LOL...
I think these are considered "Prim's" and our home is really not Primitive decor..but there are just some things that I think are so cute...
A wonderful crafter made these and I found them on ebay a few years ago. Seems these talented people come and go, most never to be found again.
There are little owls on each end of the mantel, but they don't show up much in the pictures...
My cinnimon covered cat is another of favorites..and Halloweeny..(oops, forgot to remove his
par-tay hat! He probably would not look any less Halloween if I did that anyway..so what the heck.
Trying to stick to Fallish things for a couple of weeks. NOT easy for Miss "Hurry Quick!" here.
That's it. Oh, and the painting..my gorgeous Fall painting. I posted it last Fall and I will post it until I croak! I LOVE that painting. Again...where did my artist disappear to?
So..tha..tha..tha's all folks!
:)
HUGE hugs..and lotsa love..
Mona
Your mantle looks festive Mona! And I can't wait to see all of your Halloween decor.
ReplyDeleteOh and that party post below, the food, it looks utterly amazing.

Great mantle Mona. Love the cat. Your getting into the swing of things. Your decorating is just fine, your to hard on yourself. Your's is just as pretty as everyone else is.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow is going to be cooler, yea yea yea.
Mary
The mantle is cute! It is hard to find fall decorative items that shine and sparkle. I guess because it is more spooky than other seasons of the year? Well, Halloween is.
ReplyDeletethose scarecrows are wonderful! i think you are off to a great start!
ReplyDeleteHello and as always love seeing what you do each day. I am not feeling to well this morning so will have a day off hopefully. I will be back tomorrow to see what you have got into as well. Lol
ReplyDeleteBarbara in Florida
Its really quite difficult to hold off with the Halloween Decorations with Autumn right by its side, so just reign in on that anxiety to get it all out there right now. You mantle looks sweet and I love your painting - you add loveliness to everything you decorate with each celebratory day following another. I would have a hard time keeping up to you. I am getting kinda antsy myself to prepare for Halloween. hehe - gotta be the child within us, don't you think. HiYa PH and have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your mantel Mona! It looks gorgeous! The painting is precious, keep posting it:) Have a blessed and beautiful day dear friend, HUGS!
ReplyDeleteGood morning Sweets,

Love to you ~Tanza~ xo
Your mantel looks very nice and when I looked closer I could see the owls. Love the cat on the pumpkin and his hat. Have a blessed day. Madeline
ReplyDeleteYour mantle looks really nice! I wish I had a mantle, Iä've Always liked them when seeing them in American films. But they aren't common in Swedish homes, we have Always had iron stoves instead, I guess it's a safer way, no sparks comes out from them.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Christer.
Your mantle looks good but if you want more glitz and shine....go to a fabric store and purchase a small amount of some fall fabric and tuck it around your scarecrows. We do this in the flower shop all the time. Sit them on it...let it show here and there and see if that makes you happy! Happy decorating!
ReplyDeleteHi Mona - Your scarecrows are really cute, and I love the black cat on the pumpkin! When I taught school I had a big poofy pumpkin I would put out in the fall - the kids loved it! I wonder if I still have it? Thanks so much for commenting back to me - it makes me feel like we're in touch. One of these days I really will take some classes to get better at the computer, but right now I'm caring for my mom and don't have the time to get out much. I loved the post about your family gathering on the beach! I was born in California when my dad was in the service and have only been back a couple of times, but I love the beach - so pretty! Thanks so much for sharing your life with us. You are such an amazing person and I love getting to know you through your blog. - Rhonda
ReplyDeleteOh I love your mantel, how pretty. YOur little scarecrows are so cute. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteLove those scarecrows...but I am so drawn to them. That and pumpkins seem to reign here.
ReplyDeleteI love all your fall touches, mantle included . . . and is that fall picture ever wonderful . . . I hope to see a full view . . .
ReplyDeleteVery cute. Love that cat and the painting. Happy Fall.
ReplyDeleteLove the mantel and I'm trying to get mine to look as good as yours..so far you win hands down! I love the cat and I remember the painting from last year! I was itching to grab it and head home with it...but since I live 3,000 miles away I think it's safe with you!
ReplyDeleteDear Rhonda..thank you for stopping by and leaving such sweet comments. Blogger are the dearest people one could meet. The mantel is an old corral post that was burned in a fire. We hauled it home from the ranch and sanded and sanded then drilled deep hole and mounted it to the wall. Decorating it is a bit difficult because it is not an even mantel like most. I've so glad you like it.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Mona
that cat is really cute.. and the painting is beautiful.. I browsed down through the last 4 post and you certainly do love to decorate. my mother was like you, she decorated for every season... i did not inherit her decorator genes. i own not one seasonal decoration other than a very few Christmas things... thanks for your wonderful comments on my post today... i enjoyed looking at all your autumn decorations.
ReplyDeleteHi Jean! Thank you so much for the suggestion. Joyce had a good one too...putting lights, the orange ones, in containers..I must try both your idea's..IF I make it that far! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the suggestion!
Reading your post makes me think I need to take a hike out to the barn and bring in the Halloween goodies. Love these. Gotta get into the spirit. You asked...I live in Rockbridge County of Virginia....not too far from the West VA line. We are out in the country but the town is Lexington where Washington and Lee University and Virginia Military Institute are located. These 4 shots were taken in our area but not on our land. genie
ReplyDeleteMona there are lights which have black cords and orange bulbs. That would be cute even wound thru the scarecrows. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling better from the dentist.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the decorations in the house. I love fall and the colors. Can't wait to see the rest of them.
You decorate for every season?
I do decorate for fall. Going to do it this weekend.
Love, sandie

ReplyDeleteYour Fall-o-ween decorations look great. Those are some cute little scarecrows. I didn't notice the owls until after I read about them. I guess they are doing what owls do in real life by blending into their habitat. Yours look pretty realistic.
ReplyDeleteYour painting fits perfectly into your décor. I like the colors in it.
Nothing wrong with your mantel decos, Mona, and they definitely look like Fall and Halloween and hope no spirits decide to remain afterwards.Going to the dentist is never a fun trip and I also have on in a few weeks. Glad yours is over!
ReplyDeleteO, I love your fall mantel...you do a wonderful job of decorating and you don't give yourself enuf credit, Miz Mona.
ReplyDeletexoxo
Hi Jean, I piled some in a basket. :) You all have such great idea's. I seldom ever buy magazines anymore..the best idea's are righ here in blogland. :)
ReplyDeleteMona - Here in Missouri it's really starting to feel like Fall. The leaves aren't turning yet, though, which is my favorite part. I would never have been so resourceful to think of making a mantle out of a post. That's why I love reading blogs - I agree with you about getting the best ideas from them. And I agree that all of the blogs I read (not a ton, but several) seem to have very nice people writing them. I hope your October is off to a great start. Hugs - Rhonda
