~A GIRL'S FAMILY TEA TIME FOR VALENTINE'S DAY~

I think some of you who read my blog know this unusual home once belonged to the author, Emilie Barnes. It's lovely having our gatherings here...and a tea is so fitting..

My daughter Mary, me and granddaughter, Rachel.

Mary's signature cupcakes.
As for me, I had tea and scones with raspberry jam and clotted cream! :)

...and the most devine sugar cookies. Mary's own recipe!

Looking out the little dutch doors to the yard.

Mary putting the finishing touches on the table before the girls in the family arrive! Rush, rush!!

Emily's first Tea at Aunt Mary's house, busy using her "lady" manners!

Don't worry, Mary has had lots of practice pouring tea..so "shhhhhh..."

"Excuse me. Did I say you could take more pictures of me?"

~A little family photo to remember this day. Grandma, Mommy, Auntie Natalia and Emily!

More sweet things to look at. Valentines EVERYWHERE! Yes indeed!

~LOVE SWEET LOVE!!

It was such a beautiful day and I was sitting right next to the door. I kept gazing out...then ate another cookie...and gazed a bit more.

Table set for tea..and family fun.

Formal dining area..off behind where we were sitting.

Granddaughter Ireland was in New York at college and missed the tea..so daughter Mary had her picture on the table and we pulled her up on the computer and everyone talked to her in her dorm room. I cried.

~ And a good time was had by all...especially Emily!

~And when I got home from the Tea...this is what I found on my chair in front of my computer... I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day. We did!

Love,
Mona

  27. Hi, Mona -
I came here from Penny's place at 'The Comforts of Home'. I'm so glad I did - I loved seeing the fun at your tea. And I was so happy to learn that you have the wonderful home that Emilie and Bob Barnes used to own. I feel as if I know the house and yard from all of the books and videos I've seen from Emilie's days there. I'm so glad you are making it your cozy home and enjoying tea there, too. I'll be back to read more of your blog and to see what you have to share.

  31. Hi Mona:
What a wonderful Valentine Tradition. My Mother and I have a Mother's Day Tea every year and have done so for the past 15 years.
I just read your bio. I lost my 2nd husband 6 years ago to lung cancer. He only lasted 24 days.
Time heals, but as my minister said, "you never quite get over it, you get through it."
Oh, and your post to my blog was so funny...I guess I'll share my mountains with you...Riverside sister!

  39. I just love time with the girls! Especially when it's done up as nicely as Mary did. I'm so jelouse about the See's candy. I even dropped a not so subtle hint earlier in the month that the lines at See's would be getting really long around the 14th!

  40. I was deeply touched by the sheer loveliness of your blog post, and a bit "misty eyed" as well!..,

This post is so poignantly beautiful; speaking, ever so eloguently to your love of family, Valentines day, and such pretty surroundings and such darling and oh-so-yummy sweets and lovely food so beautifully displayed by your fabulous daughter!.., Wow!

Even the touching moments with your grandaughter who was away, (and whom you all so thoughtfully and lovingly communicated with via the computer); also the mention of and photo of that dear Valentines heart chocolate box, so lovingly left by you computer by your sweetie!.., So precious!

Thanks ever so much for sharing!..,

I so appreciated you visitng my blog amidst your busuness dear lady!

You are such a treasure, such a sweetheart; bless
    you!

  41. I'm so happy you had a wonderful Valentine's Day. You deserve it! I love that the picture of the granddaughter who couldn't be there was set out. How thoughtful.

Hey, I never got that "picture" you were going to send me. Email me and let me know if anything has been going on with all the home repairs you are doing. I've been wondering if "anyone" is mad about the changes taking place.

    Hugs,
