~A PROMISE OF COOKIES...~

Thank you to DESIGNS BY GOLLUM. No food..but soon...I promise! At least it's a start!

This morning was Farmers Market day..and off we went at 9 this morning, a bit late..and it was already SO hot I wanted cry...but AFTER I got my fresh veggies and flowers! These are not sunflowers..but I bought some of those also.

Yes..I KNOW these are just cookie cutters below..but there is a bit of a story behind these.
You see, I went to this little store that is a favorite of mine, and no, it's not a Thrift shop. It is one of those places that..you KNOW when you walk in that you can have just ONE thing and it better be something you want badly! I mean like BADLY!

So in I went...(did I tell you they call me by my first name?! Does that tell you anything at all?

A little teapot..short and stout! YES!

After scouring the entire store, I was relieved to find that there was not one single thing I could not live without...and was about to leave when..."ARE those COOKIE CUTTERS?!" Yes, they were. Copper ones..and so beautiful. I LOVED them. so I took three of my favorites and headed for the counter.
It is always...always .... a good idea to look at the price tag...even if they are only cookie cutters!

A big fat apple! I loved the detail..

And, my favorite, this beautiful Autumn leaf! I loved it!
All done. And I had only bought THREE things! NOT!
At the counter I smiled and stacked my goodies there...and she rang them up...and I nearly fainted...it was $30.00 plus tax! I mean for three cookie cutters!??
OH yes, you bet I will make cookies this year..I have to make use of these little treasures!

These lovely smelling, grundgy primitive candles I bought on ebay. These are wonderful and the price is good. I bought these last year and they are just as wonderful and fresh smelling as last year. I bought six bundles..but am just showing you two of them.

This is some wonderful orange sugar I bought a couple of years ago..and has never been opened. Do you suppose it is still good? It has been stored in a cool place.. so...shall I use it?

I bought these pumpkin cookie cutters a few years ago...and they have never been out of the box..so..
My promise..I am going to bake Halloween cookies this year...and I am going to decorate them..and...I am going to SHOW AND TELL!

Ok..'nuff of this.. :)

Love and hugs,
Mona

P.S. Better late than never...:)

  2. Hi Mona,

I hope you enjoy those cookie cutters. I have just been reading some of your older posts. I had to chuckle at the one that said "Thrilling Post". Very witty, and cute. You sound like a great lady, with a great sense of humor. :) I marked you in my favorites! Have a great weekend!

  7. I love cookie cutters and looked at some today that were $4 each! I thought that was high but maybe I should go back and get them. I love pretty kitchen things and I love to bake! The sugar should be fine since it has been sealed. Enjoy your pretty things! I love the feel of Fall on your blog!

  11. Hi Mona,
Checking with you to see what you are up to !
Went to that store to get something and bought
a cookie cutter as well....the Scotty dog !
Can't wait to make cookies as well ! They will
be worth it in the long run and the copper is
so decorative. They are a great find !

  12. Good Evening Mona. I'm listening to your playslist now. I did have to turn it on myself. Do you think you might have the mute button set on? It's the little horn under the volume bar on the right side.

See I have never even hear of Eva Cassidy and wouldn't have if there was no music on your blog. She has a beautiful voice!

I need to find the lyrics to Red River Valley. I can't quite remember it all now. It's been years since I sang to my kids!

I love your cookie cutters. I guess they cost so much because of the copper, and they look really big compared to the package of pumpkins.
They must make better cookies too!
    Sweet dreams dear,
    Dawn

  13. You are so much like me. You see something you want and up to the cashier you go. Not looking at prices has gotten me into a lot of trouble.

I have lots of cookie cutters. Two big plastic boxes full. I hardly ever make cookies but I love to collect them. The copper ones are the best. But yes they do add up quickly.

Hey, I just thought of a wonderful idea. You can call me up when you bake the cookies and I can come eat them with you. LOL

    Hugs,
    Joanne

  16. My mother had her hysterectomy 35 years ago. She told me she didn't know she could ask for pain medication and said it was horrible.

I'm having no pain what so ever. Is that not strange but I'm glad.

Hope all goes well for you. I will be praying for you. Love ya dear!

  20. Your flowers are gorgeous. Bake some cookies for me too. I can never make them look the way they are intended to look. Blobs that taste good are pretty much what my decorated cookies are.

  24. and I thought I was the only one in the world who can't walk past a Thrift Store (Charity Shop) without going in and buying something! I have had to restrict myself to one day a week!!! and that day is Monday because Monday is always a bit of 'down' day. It cheers me up to go in the thrift store and like you, I always see something I must have.

  25. Now you have to show and tell us about your pumpkin cookies before Halloween or maybe Thanksgiving:) I love to bake but cut out rolled cookies are not high on my list as they are labor of love and my family tends to inhale cookies and they are gone in minutes:)

  26. I have been on an unwilling vacation from visiting anyone in blogland and what a nice place to visit as one of my first visits. I have so enjoyed getting caught back up on your blog. I love the fall background. Makes me want to sip some warm apple cider or spiced tea while I read.
