I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe July 4th.
It's a joyeous and hopeful holiday. Our independence day, the day that marks our Freedom as a nation. It's a day of remembering all our nation went through to become who we are today. I love the patriotic songs and seeing our flags flying, the parades and having picnics with family...all of it is wonderful! One of my favorite days. It means family and fun and good food and for me the real beginning of Summertime and a renewing of pride.
I was always so proud of being a Military wife for those 20 years. I had a lot of exposure to the difficult times and what it took to keep us free. I will never forget seeing that ship sail out of the Destroyer base in San Diego. I remember meeting the ship with our year old son who had never seen his Daddy and three other little ones under the age of 6. I waited for him so many times...and now he is waiting for me.
I want to go back and read American History again just because. It means so much more to me now than when I was a child. I understand why it is important to learn who we are and who we came from...and why. I don't want American children to lose sight of that. Ever.
It is overwhelming when you really think about it. What a fantastic people we are. We have so much to be proud of. No country in the world is quite like ours.
We need to teach our children well...it's so important.
Have a wonderful weekend...
My love to all of you!
Mona

ReplyDeleteI just love it when you comment. You always make me smile. You are always just so sweet and kind and the world needs more like you!
We live in the best country in the world. Freedom has a big price, thank your family and many others for the sacrifices you all have made. Your little boy not seeing his dad until he was years old, and your husband not knowing his son for 4 years. That itself is a sacrifice.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the kind words you had for me, my daughter and about The Green Pea. It is true I love what I am doing and hope to be going strong for many more years. I do not think you are to old to have a shop if you still would like to have one. God Bless you and your family always, Sandi
Go Mona! You told is exactly how it should be. Happy fourth to you! I hope your garage sale-ing tomorrow is fabulous!

ReplyDeleteAmen, darling Mona! You're so right, we have so much to be thankful for and much of the thanks go to our dear military! My daddy served in WWII, my Mr. Precious during the Viet Nam war and my son a few years back! Hallelujah for our freedom!
ReplyDeleteOh, Dear Mona, you just come on back any ole time you want to and say those 'young words' to me! LOL I'm an oldie - I'll be 58 in November! I can't believe it. I feel young on the inside!
