~What a beautiful Spring day!~

This is Howard and I on St. Patricks Day. We had a wonderful evening with family. Happiness shows.
We went to garage sales today. I bought a cookbook, a Christmas coffee table book and a lovely old copy of Dickins "Great Expectations." Also went out to breakfast and then shopping for some beautiful plants for our yard. My son in law has put in new curbing in our back yard and soon it will be lovely with flowers. He did it in a beautiful free form..and I took pictures while the work was in progress..so..I am proud for remembering to document it.
Our three new birch trees are growing and new leaves are just begining. I will have to take some before and after pictures. We planted them in the fall, watched them lose their little leaves for the very first time, and new ones are beginning to appear. It is almost like watching a baby walk for the first time. Well..ok..not really :) but it is fun to watch for a person who loves trees.

  1. I'm a tree lover too and unfortunately, we lost a huge, very old dogwood in our backyard last winter due to a lightening strike (it hit two of our neighbor's trees) and had to be taken down. I've never seen a tree that was so healthy and green one day become such a huge brown mass the next! Now we have to plant a new tree this spring and I know I won't live long enough to see it reach maturity.

  3. Good morning lady lou. I've had a very nice quiet weekend. John is probably on his way back from California.

I love trees too but John would like to cut them all down. :-(

  4. Birch trees are my favourites and thankfully we have lots of them here in Sweden :-)

It´s getting colder here again, they also promised some more snow. But until next weekend it is going to get warmer again. I´m not complaining, spring is one month early here anyway :-)

  9. Gaston Studio...I know exactly what you mean about not seeing it grow to maturity. I feel like that about ours too.

Mona....Hi there..and thanks for making me feel good. And yes..they certainly are needed for our planet.
:)Spring is such a wonderful time.

PattiCakes..LOL John would like to cut them down along with a lot of other men! Frank was like that too..cut the thing down...it's messy! Used to upset the heck out of me!

Cottage by the Cranelake... How nice to have them growning wild in Sweden. There might be places in this country that they grow wild...but not here. I think it is the white trunks and those tiny twinkling leaves..just beautiful.
