Easter!
I've always loved Easter..
My mother used to decorate the middle of our large dining room table with Easter grass and baskets for all of us children. There were four and I was the eldest.
Still am.
But my mom is gone now and Easter is a time I remember my parents and our Easter's.
This year, Easter is at PH's and my home and it's been a long time since that happened.
A new baby girl that will be born this Thursday to my granddaughter, Rachel, will keep us in town.
No going to the beach this year..
So..
when a dear online friend, Jean, sent me a photo she had found of an umbrella arrangement for the front door...I decided to try it. Jean sent the picture and wrote "It's got your name all over it." :)
I had to wing it. Could not find directions..but..it's no wonder.
Simple as heck!
Thank's Jean!!
Thank's Jean!!
I found this umbrella at Target for $12 and the flowers I had around the house.
(got lotsa flowers!)
The hanger looks black in the photo, but it's gold.
I should probably buy new ribbon..found this in the bottom of my sewing basket and it looks it.
Most of the flowers...ALL the rose stems go clear to the bottom of the umbrella..
I tucked Spanish moss every place I could tuck it...
Done!
No hot glue at all..if I take everything out, the umbrella could be used as intended without a speck on it.
AND I did have to buy the fern and nest. Pier 1 had it.
So..I'm just...about...ready. Working on that patio now.
Hope you like it.
It's not much of a post but it's better than nothing at all...right?
Right? :)
Love,
Mona
lOve it. great job.

the umbrellas is beautiful, what a super duper idea.. my mother loved Easter to. she loved Christmas first and Easter almost as much. she did the same thing wiht 2 baskets, and made a bowl of grass and candy for daddy and herself... she put a pink table cloth with a white lace cloth over it, put the baskets in the center and 3 tall candles.. we used to hunt eggs in the back yard before church and again after lunch in the after noon. mother was a holiday person... i am betting umbrellas could be found in thrift stores pretty cheap. mother would have loved this idea and had one too

Easter is my favorite holiday and i am looking foward to it. I try to keep the menu simple and make most of it the day before so that we can be on the beach the rest of the day and im not stuck on the kitchen
ReplyDeleteHi Mona! Oh, I love your pretty umbrella door arrangement. You did a beautiful job too! One little tip about wrinkled ribbon...you can hold it and run it across the top of a hot lightbulb and it's like ironing it without the hot iron! ;) How exciting to have another little precious one coming into your family. Have a beautiful Easter, my sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Mona, You did a fine job on that umbrella...it looks like spring. I really like it. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

ReplyDeleteReally quite lovely. I thought the flowers were real, but even I could put that decoration on my front door, with 2 new feet of snow that fell on March 21,-----First Day Of Spring. ha,ha

This is cute as can be...I would have to hot glue it all together because of the strong winds here in West Texas...
ReplyDeletethis is such a beautiful idea,, I love this,,
ReplyDeleteHi Mona, Love the green with white dots. It's perfect for spring.
ReplyDeleteNote to self: Keep an eye out for suitable umbrella for door decoration.
Using Spanish moss was a great idea! My wife and I made bouquet for our front door last Easter, and we used a lot of hot glue to keep everything in place. I like how your rose stems go to the bottom of the umbrella because I think it makes things appear more real. I’m looking forward to incorporating some new ideas like this during the Christmas season.

That is just gorgeous. For spring this year I am trying to do lots of decorating with the blushing bride flowers. I only recently found out about those and I am absolutely obsessed. Those and the proteas are maybe the most beautiful flowers I have ever seen. I do also love tulips though. It has been a dream to visit.
