Finally! It's done!
My wonderful paper hanger arrived as always, exactly on time.
This is Ray working on the stove area. I suddenly remembered to take a couple of "before pic's"...
So I caught the entry into the dining room and family room before the paper.
After. I hung the valances to off set the red..and now I'm wondering...do I really need these anymore. Probably not. I'm rethinking those.
..looking into my office.
Turning to the left..looking into the family room.
Ray insisted that we only remove the breakables..everything else he would move.
He took that heavy little bead board shelf off the wall and put it back!
Looking to the right from where I was standing.. into the living room. The door into the garage in on the right.
Looking into the family room that will eventually have RED SCOTCH PLAID wall paper. LOL
Get off the floor!! I'm teasing you!
(maybe)
It's okay, You can say what my kids will say.. "well, if YOU like it....." :)
I do. I really do like it.
The kitchen witch was a gift from a very dear friend many, many years ago. She has to stay. Being Irish and Spanish makes for a bit of superstition on my part.
Bless Ray's heart. He even covered my switch plates!
Okay, NOW, at the last moment there was a roll of left over wall paper and Ray said it was enough to paper one accent wall in my office..and that's what you see on the left of my little 1950's Tappan oven. I was SO delighted with the whole thing! It really looks sweet in the office.
Now, listen. It's perfectly okay if you hate it. And even if you can tolerate it in MY home, but never, never in your home...I mean, that's fine too! I don't mind a bit.
In a few years I may change it..but remember..I'm old and VERY sensitive ...so be kind.
LOL I'm kidding you! All of you are always so kind...I'm not worried ...at all.
Maybe just a bit!
:)
Love,
Mona
Well, Mona I love it!! I love all the punches of your red accents, I think it is just gorgeous! Well done!
ReplyDeleteMona - I LOVE it! I love toile anywhere in any room in any color! Your paperhanger did an awesome job.
ReplyDeleteJudy
I love it! I am a red person, can't get enough of red!!
ReplyDeleteNonie
Fantastic paper hanger to do all that and part of another room. It looks great with all your red accents.
ReplyDeleteOh I totally adore it, really. Beautiful paper. I had every single room in my house in Oregon wallpapered, and I loved it. Now since I stenciled my master closet, I am trying to find a pattern to use to stencil on the bathroom walls too. Love pattern on the walls.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous! I love the red items with it and the black and white goes pretty, too. You'll have fun finding a few more accessories to go with this new wallpaper. You're going to LOVE it! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteI love the red/white toile, just gorgeous, Mona. Isn't it amazing what a little paint or paper can do for a room. I have been working on my kitchen...doing chalk paint on the cupboards now that the walls are finally done. Slow process for an old gal!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the weekend...have you been out doing yard sales this spring?
I think it is so beautiful! I love that wallpaper and I'm not a wallpaper type of person. It is perfect in your kitchen. Ray did a super job hanging it.
ReplyDeleteI think your red toile paper is just gorgeous....and I really mean it Mona, not just saying it to be nice! What a wonderful detail to have your electrical covers done in the same wallpaper as the kitchen...great idea! hugs...
ReplyDeleteI love seeing YOU doing what you like in your home. And I love the Tolle paper . . . Your red accents set it off wonderfully!
ReplyDeleteI am a minimalist in comparison . . . at least at this point in my life. There was a time though that my identity was wrapped up in the many collectibles I had. Strange how I have changed . . .
I love your yellow Tappan stove . . . Great your hanger guy could extend the paper into your office.
What fun . . . Now I'll go back and look some more . . .
It really does look lovely, Mona and I think Ray's suggestion to paper the wall into your study was spot-on! It creates an illusion of extension...leading the eye...naturally...beyond your kitchen, without a break. The pastoral scene depicted on the wallpaper is charming, harmonising so well with your cottagey decor. It all FITS! I particularly admired the ornamental kettle on your stove top. Your kitchen looks so inviting, warm and homely. Quite delightfully YOU!
ReplyDeleteAnd Ray did a marvellous job, even down to the wall sockets! How clever was that!
The paper looks great! Ditch the lace curtains....you don't need them anymore. The walls don't need anything more. I think it looks wonderful! Plaid added to the other room will be great! You have done good Mona girl. Coffee?
ReplyDeleteSTUNNING!! As a lover of red in the Kitchen, I so get it!! I like the lace curtains. They add a softness. I hang curtains on places where there are no windows too!!
ReplyDeleteand I love all your vintage Kitchen items too!!
Hugs,
Deb
HI Mona! Oh, I love your kitchen wallpaper. That is one of my favorite toile patterns too. I had that pattern in some fabric on some window toppers I made for my sun porch in my Texas house. Oh, it just makes all of your other red things pop and how nice to have enough for a wall in your office. Now if this house we bought had that kind of wallpaper in it - I wouldn't have pulled it down! :) I love love your sweet little wall oven! I'm so glad you're having a ball!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
You are making me wanna get some wallpaper:) I love that color and red is certainly MY color too! Enjoy your day and your newly decorated walls! HUGS!
ReplyDeleteWOW WOW WOW,Need I say More. Love it, your home is like mine use to be, we sure do have lots in common, are you sure you aren't my twin?
ReplyDeleteBarbara-sunny Florida
Love the new wallpaper. It speaks volumes in your room. I'm glad you had enough to do an accent wall in your office. Plaid would be fun to see too, just saying.... fondly ~lynne~
ReplyDeleteVery nice. Glad it is finished and that you are pleased with it. Have a blessed day. Madeline
ReplyDeletethe wall paper must be vintage, i remember seeing it in my childhood, not in red, but the design. it was really popular... I like the flowered teapot and the black and white coffee pot and the white with red trim pots sitting next to it. mother had a bread box like the one on your fridge. you are blessed to have found someone to paper for you...
ReplyDeleteYour latest update is beautiful, in fact I like it better than the before pictures.
ReplyDeleteThe lighter color of the toile paper makes you kitchen look bigger, especially with the accent wall in your office. Your entire house is so cozy and welcoming.
Cant wait to see the next project.
Oh dear Mona - what's not to love about red toile??? It is absolutely lovely and adds alot of charm to your kitchen. How lucky you had enough to do the accent wall, too - it really ties those spaces together. Enjoy!! Jane
ReplyDeleteI love it, Mona! So cozy! Your paper hanger did a magnificent job, and the switch plates, too?? Wow! Extra props for that! I would enjoy visiting you in your very warm and cozy home!
ReplyDeleteoh mona it looks wonderful! and ray did such a good job! he is a real keeper!
ReplyDeleteI love Toile! It is always beautiful. And I wish I had more of it. All I have is a pillow I covered myself, in a maroon and white toile.
ReplyDeleteI prefer nearly nothing, on my counters. You love having your red kitchen accessories out on your counters. To each her own!! And no one would want it any other way.
And great, to have a bit of that lovely paper, left over, to put in your office!!! How sweet is that???
I am so happy that this project is done. And now you can just enjoy it, every time you walk anywhere near your kitchen. And especially, when you are using your kitchen. It will give you a sweet little thrill, every time you lay eyes on it.
hugs, hugs, hugs,
Tessa
Oh Mona, I love the toile wall paper. I have that pattern in fabric for my bedroom and I have one wall in my tiny bathroom in the wall paper. I think it looks terrific. You know how much I love RED....
ReplyDeleteYour fellow that wallpapers did an outstanding job.
Have a great cool weekend - I'm loving it, but my poor flowers and roses are not doing that good.
Hugs,
Mary
I just knew it Mona! It's lovely...warm and inviting....and happy! Bravo darling!
ReplyDeleteMona, I can tell how good your paper hanger is by the matched designs involving the switch plate. I love that toile pattern and the color. Glad you got what you wanted. Blessings , xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteI like it a lot! Looks great to me!
ReplyDeleteYour new wallpaper looks very pretty. Your wallpaper guy did a nice job.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE it ALL and I want to LIVE there!!!! I adore those lace valances!!! I have GOT to get me some of these! I am a big fan of wallpaper and I am planning to repaper our dining room late this summer. Can't wait to see the living room if you paper that! I say - GO FOR IT!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are a lady after my own heart. I believe that you can never get enough of something you like. As my grandson said to me once 'Oma, you have a lot of things!' and he's right. There are things everywhere but tidy, just like yours.
ReplyDeleteI love your wallpaper and would choose that myself. The men in my household, maybe not but then, we ladies decorate the house, don't we. Left to them it would be all black, grey, white and nothing else. So yes, it's a success. Enjoy it.
I like it but I think you should take down the white valance and add red and white gingham or striped valance. More patterns :)
ReplyDeleteI love red toile! And your paper hanger did a beautiful job - I like the way he covered the switch plates so perfectly.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the joy these simple changes in your home bring you.
Oh Mona, I love the new look, it's fantastic! I am just crazy about red toile and the black and white, just classic! Great job!
ReplyDeleteHi Mona..well i think its beautiful! And it suits you to a "tee"!! Thank you for the sweet comment you left me on my blog...that meant the world to me! Thank you sweet friend! Enjoy all your pretty new paper! I just discovered toile this past year and i LOVE IT! IN ALL COLORS
ReplyDeleteBoy, I'm late to this post! I love red and I love toile..and this looks perfect in your kitchen! I know you'll love this for years to come. What a great paper hanger guy you have..he does a nice job! Enjoy!
