~ FINISHED WALLPAPER PROJECT~

It's all finished and I love it!  I knew I would.
AND I am learning that there are a lot of bloggers out there that love wallpaper too.  I am not alone.  I mean, no one wants to feel all alone.
NOT a loner here.  So..don't go away..okay?

Our dear wallpaper hanger arrived yesterday morning looking rather sheepish.
He apologized over and over...poor guy.
Poor me too..I have to say..it was not easy working on that carpet..
I felt my age down there scrubbing away... :)
No matter..we all survived and are none the worse for wear. :)

I am sorry..the lighting in the hallway is terrible and I turned on the overhead light...which only made it worse.
this looking down the hallway into our bedroom.

Looking into the hallway from the living room...The larger white mirror that was hanging here..was HEAVY and I was afraid it would make a large hole in the wallpaper  Besides...I wanted my haunted mirror up.
It's getting to be that time of year soon.  :)
No..honest..it's haunted.
Believe me.  I would never, ever lie to you.
Do you just love how straight I hold the camera!   Sheesh!!!
Bless Duane's heart...he even wallpapered the entry into the attic area. :)
Straight ahead is looking into my office.

This little bi fold door opens to the living room.

Linen closets.  Tiny little corners to paper into. I would watch him a few minutes, then run and hide and thank heavens I wasn't the one doing it!

Our bedroom door and my two oldest boys, Mikie and Pat when they were tiny.   Pat (on the right) will be 59 tomorrow.
and Mikie (on the left)  is just 13 months younger
I am so upset by the yellow light cast over everything.
I should probably wait until daylight and do it all again...but..then again..maybe not.
Not that big a deal.  It's just wallpaper.
Old fashioned?  Yes, but that's what I like.  I know it's not for everyone..

We did get out today and go to an Estate sale.  Like I need more STUFF!
However..I found another beautiful big mixing bowl in sage green.  A birdcage (way too expensive) that needs a new paint job.
A lovely ivy arrangement which I stuck under my leggy coffee table ....for now.
:)
Love,
Mona

  2. he did a really good job, those corners are hard to do... so do a post on the haunted mirror, what does it do? what is in it?

  3. It looks BEAUTIFUL and I can fully appreciate just how delighted you are. Tanza has said everything and more. I cannot outshine her on this, I'm afraid, other than to add how happy I am feeling for you, right now! I can see you making excuses to walk into that glorious passageway at every opportunity, just so you can linger slowly and take it all in.

I am greatly relieved that your carpets cleaned up well. Whew! I know I would have cried, had that happened to me and my first action would have been to see whether I could get them replaced through our insurance. One so seldom ever claims, but with a problem like that (glue on new carpets!) I would have made a big fuss. I'm not half as tolerant as you are, Mona. I think you deserve a gold meddle for the way in which you handled what was a very stressful and unhappy situation. And Duane must be thanking his lucky stars that you were his client. I doubt I would have been able to compose myself the way you so admirably did!!

    Huge hug, Des xx

PS I sent you an email

  9. Soooo pretty!

And as you know, I love my old fashioned looking wallpaper, toooo!

There is only one *rule* in decorating. To do what makes your heart sing.

As to blogging exact colors of anything, it's nigh-on-to-impossible. Without professional lighting and etc. At least, that's what I've come to accept.

But you could play with photos, in natural light, just for the fun of it, if you choose. Just for fun, though. :-))))

    Gentle hugs,
    Tessa~

  10. I like wall paper too, and may try some in our new/old house. Any paper with roses on it is a winner in my opinion.

  12. Mona, Bless the paper hanger's 80 year old heart. He did a fabulous job. I can't believe he could hold his arms up that long to align the strips. The little cabinet in the hall goes right with the paper. If you like wallpaper, use wallpaper, it's your home and you should enjoy it. Some times we try to conform to the wishes of others, let's be ourselves girl. Enjoy !! xoxo,Susie

  14. Wonderful job of wallpapering. I've done my fair share of it so I know that it is not an easy job. Very pretty paper, too! I'd love to paper my bedroom. I love wallpaper. My grandmother grew up with wallpaper and hated it...everything at her house was painted. My mother grew up with everything painted, but switched to wallpaper. I wallpapered everything at my first house and here I have a combination of painted walls, wood walls, and wallpapered walls.

  15. I love your wallpaper and yes, that is a hard area to hang and looks like a fabulous job. Love the pattern, so pretty.

  16. So happy this story has a happy ending, Mona. And look at the beautiful results! I am sure you are just thrilled. I've spent some time trying to "fit" into what is the latest and greatest decorating style, and really, it just wasn't me. Only when I decided to do what felt right for ME did I start loving my house again. And in turn, I think others like it, too - not because it is done to their taste, but that it reflects me. I say go for whatever makes you happy!!! (And wow! your beautiful wallpaper is a winner) Jane

  17. Oh sweet darlin'...it's just lovely as all get~out girl. Your fella did a great job, I know...I've always done mine and it can be a real pickle to match sometimes.

God bless ya girlfriend and have yourself one fantastic weekend. We're scorchin' here. Triple digits here on the old Ponderosa...huggin' the air conditioner. Heeehehehe!

  18. Absolutely charming, Sweetpea~ It's so bright and cheery, yet with that romantic reference to the past which makes it so lovely.

And it's so nice to have such a dedicated, talented artisan to tend to such important things---may he work for many more years and be happily climbing that ladder, making cozy, beautiful places for nice people.

    I love it.

  19. Oh Mona it's beautiful! Indoor lighting is not made for photographs. Don't worry...we can see it good enough. Really brightens up that little spot. Now let's talk about that little yellow flowered chest. I WANT IT!

  20. P.S. I'll take that mixing bowl too!

  21. Looks beautiful! Decorating is a personal choice. Unless you're getting a house ready to sell, just do what makes you happy! I like wallpaper too and you picked a lovely pattern for that area! I cringed when I read the previous post about the carpet mishap. Glad it turned out OK!

  22. It turned out GORGEOUS! I have been wanting to repaper our main bath...and you have certainly inspired me! I'm glad you found your bowls...I bought way way too much at the auction! Hugs,Penny

  23. Your wallpapered walls look so pretty. I have wallpaper in a couple of rooms. I still like it. Don't watch any of those shows on the House Hunter channel. Every time anyone on those shows sees any wallpaper in a home, they nearly come down with rabies.

  24. I love your wallpaper - so pretty! I just don't like putting up wallpaper. LOL.

  25. I love your wallpaper . . . seems perfectly you!
Poor guy . . . what did he say when he came back?
So important that we surround ourselves with what we like! My friend Barbie invited me to see her Zinnia gardens and to pick some. I brought them home and had such fun making little bouquets. I think I will go back and just pick yellow ones, take a picture and send it to you.
    Happy Sunday Mona . . .

  26. Love the wallpaper, Mona! Sorry you had to clean up the mess...and I am sure the man was upset over knocking the bucket of glue.
    Have a great upcoming week.

  28. Glad to hear everyone survived the disaster & you are still able to move after all that rug scrubbing.I really like the calming grey & yellow combination. Very sophistocated, yet charming at the same time. The paper coordinates lovely with your carpet. knew you would be happy with your choice of pattern & it looks even better now that it is up on the walls. I actually think the paper makes the house look larger than the paint did. It must feel good to be able to check another project off your TO DO list. Did you lie there in bed with the lights on admiring it as you drifted off to sleep last night? That what I would have done :)

  29. I hope You didn't feel too much of the earth quake! If I understand things right You live rather far from its epicenter.

I do like to change wall paper, or to be honest I like the work before putting up the new wall paper. To level out the wall and sand papering it until it is completely smooth :-)

    Have a great day!
    Christer.

  32. Mona you have such a lovely home and your family is precious. I cant help but think that every time your change something you are adding another layer to all the memories your children and grand children have from visiting you. I think from the minute someone walks through the front door, your house wraps its arms around them just like your loving spirit.
    You are special
