~KITCHEN PRETTIES ..CHECKS? POLKA DOTS? FLORALS?

A few weeks ago I  posted about ironing board covers that I had found on Etsy.   After my ironing board cover arrived, I liked it so much that I decided to buy ironing pads for both the washer and the dryer and they could serve as pretty covers as well.  I do laundry in the garage ( a laundry room is something I only dream of) and the covers brightened up my little laundry corner so much...as you may have seen in that earlier post.
Then it hit me!
Why not order a cover for the top of my refrigerator??!
So I wrote to Sue and asked if this would be possible.  The same type cover with the large magnets that keep the covers from moving.   She wrote back to send her the measurements and the material I had in mind.
I did this and told her I would like deep rich red with red and white check trim.  Making them reversible was Sue's idea.  :)  I love it!
Of course these would not be Ironing pads...but nice heavy pads just the same, that would stay in place with the large magnets just as the ironing pads do on the washer and dryer.
I explained what I had in mind.   She even quilts them herself.  NO pre quilted fabric.
They arrived today,
Would you look who is up  cleaning off the top of the refrigerator?  He is just the sweetest man!
(the kitchen witch was a gift from a dear friend, and I simply cannot bring my self to take her away.  Maybe one day.  Maybe.)
The greenery was taking a bath in the shower.  :)

 Note:  *arrange cookbooks
      *remove magnets etc.
*put greenery back in pot
            *remove kitchen witch  (someday)
When I ordered my fridge topper, I forgot to account for the LARGE hinge.  Sue is the most patient person.!  Bless her heart!
Now all I have to scrub off is the tops of the hinges, door and first few inches of the top.  Throw the mat into the washer and dryer instead of trying to reach way back in that far corner.
 It is now covered.
They wash up beautifully, by the way.

Think of the possibilities..black and white check...:)  Pink floral...lace...whatever... *sigh*

THEN I thought...why not cover the micro wave as well??   Sue said...great idea so she made me one to my specifications.
And...I can reverse it!!

Now the sweet part!  When the package arrived today...this what I found inside as a gift for me because I worked the poor woman half to death!  :):)
Two of the sweetest pot holders!  NICE BIG ONES~!    Not dinky ones..but lovely big ones!
I was so pleased..I couldn't believe she would do that for me!
Bless her heart!

If you read this Sue...THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I love them.

www.etsy.com/shop/SueTocCreativeHands    if you wish any information.  I noticed she does not show samples of the material she has, but I found if you mention it, she has it.

I hope all of you are having a great weekend.

The weather here has been very fine.
(Can you tell I've been watching Sense and Sensibility....AGAIN??!)

Big hugs!
Mona

I love the idea. Also the idea of covering the microwave.
It is cold here today. Well I guess we need to expect it because it is our winter.

  3. Great idea Mona. I know it's so hard to clean off the top of the freg - I'm so short that I have to get on the step ladder to clean and then my arms aren't long enough to reach the back. I love the colors, they look good in your kitchen.
Love the weather, but I hear it's going to get hot by next weekend.
    Have a terrific week.
    Hugs,
    Mary

  5. Wow, once you get going on a project, you do not stop until you have "covered" each and every top in the house. I am surprised you didn't have Sue make a night cap for mirror guy to wear to bed, for that is also the "top" of something, eh. ha,ha
Now, don't have him climbing chairs and cleaning too much - his main job is to flash sun n warmth to the Maritimes. Love your new "tops". Have a wonderful day, both of you. lol

  7. Mona, I would never think of a cover for all that! Sure brings color to those appliances. Don't you just love gingham? It's a homey touch for me and I love using it at Christmas too! Looking good girlie. What did you buy at the yard sales?

  11. Cute, cute, cute! I love your covers. That is so clever to have a cover that you can just throw into the washer. And leave that kitchen witch alone. She is pretty and doing her job of protecting your place.

  12. She really made you some nice covers and perfect for your red kitchen! Bet it will make it easier to keep those appliances dust free on top. Just take off the covers, shake them off out your back door and put them back on. Love that idea!

  15. You are so much fun Mona . . . and SO real, honest, delightful all cuddled up into the Mona I know. I love you!

Oh . . . almost forgot . . . I really like your quilted appliance "toppers" . . . great idea. I wouldn't need them except for the fridge and we have a small TV up there. Just wouldn't work for me. I like your bright red walls and the red touches here and there. You are a RED gal through and through . . . (I need to remember that little fact!)

Have you ever heard about the Michigan Strawberries and Cherries?
