~A BEAUTIFUL DAY...

We had visitors on Friday and the day was wonderful.  Emily with Grandma and Grandpa.  Emily is getting tall!  And not only that, she is learning to speak Mandarin!!  They are teaching it in her Kindergarten class.
 ...hmmmmm..

We ate our lunch out on the patio. They brought a huge chocolate cake that was delicious and sweet gifts and sang Happy Birthday.

I am now 77 and PH is 80!  Really, REALLY old now.  Our birthdays are only a couple of weeks apart.  It seems like I get up in the morning and suddenly it's time to go to bed.  A dizzying whirl of days zooming by at breakneck speed.

Please forgive me if I haven't gotten over to visit you for awhile.  Not up to par lately but then again, I could be JUST PLAIN LAZY!!   Just going through a time when everything seems like an effort.  Ever have that happen to you?  :)  Mainly it's technology.  It should NOT be as confusing to me as it is.
It rained today and I loved every single moment of it.  Cool and crisp outside..I think Autumn is finally here.
About darned time!!

Love,
Mona

p.s.  Gail dear..I DID go look at the bike a few times...  :)  Just didn't get on it.  I will try soon, I promise.

  15. Happy Belated Birthday to you and your honey. Your granddaughter is beautiful and learning Mandarin, WOW
Your patio is lovely - I would be there all the time.
I know exactly how you feel - I turned 78 in July and when I get tired I go sit down, read a book or watch TV. I can't go like I used to and accepting that was very hard for me. So every day I do what I can. Mona you are truly bless with such a wonderful family and loving husband. Now that the weather is getting better I will be making a trip to Riverside to meet you and we will kick up our heels and have FUN.
    Love Mary

My birthday was this month as well.....I love OCtober birthdays.
Emily is a doll. So cute and getting so tall. You must have fun when she comes to spend time with her.
We all get the slumps. Technology is nice but a pain as well. You just need a big (((((((HUG))))).

  18. Belated birthday wishes to you both, dear Mona. What a wonderful celebration on the patio and especially with chocolate cake and a sweet granddaughter and family. And yes some days it is hard to do everything or even anything. Blogging is always fun but even I have a hard time trying to read and comment many days. I do, however, enjoy posting on our own blog...is it really ALL about us, perhaps?
May your celebrations continue throughout the year ahead!

  19. Happy Birthday to you both, Mona! Neither of you look your age at all, I think it truly is about your being active, even though that may not occur everyday, the same goes for all of us!

I can't get over how beautiful your patio is...so many plants, I would be in heaven out there! Emily is a doll, I think it's neat they are teaching Mandarin, but who will she speak it to? lol!

    XO,
    Jane

  20. Happy Birthday to you and to PH. You don't look old at all. You have a young heart and that is all that matters.
To make your garden room as pretty as that, I certainly don't think you are old....
Enjoy each day as it comes.
I am so glad you are back on air.

  21. OHHHH, Sweetpea!!

Y'all are all just precious. And that little hand wrapped around Grandpa's finger---I'll bet in life it's the other way around--- his heart.

I'm so glad you had such a splendid BIRTHDAYS PARTY. Isn't it wonderful to blow out candles together? Well, our two aren't close together, but I've needed help or a fire extinguisher for quite some years now.

Love to you and all yours,

    rachel

  24. Happy Birthday…I am looking at 75 in February :-) I just adore your porch. It reminds me of our home in Palm Beach. The colors are so pretty and the furnishings so inviting. The quilt on the table is yummy. Thanks for sharing the family pictures. So nice.

  28. Dear Mona - What a wonderful birthday surprise! Your little granddaughter is a doll! I taught kindergarten for 16 years and I'm amazed at the things they are learning now. Smart little cookie. Like everyone else, I love your porch. I would love a porch like that, but I know you've put a lot of work into making it such an oasis. I will be 60 next month, and I don't think I have half the energy you do! I know I don't have the gift of making things so lovely. Wishing you and your husband belated happy birthdays! I do read your replies to my comments and I appreciate you taking the time to do that. I know in my heart you are a sweet, sweet lady and we would be good friends if we were neighbors. :) - Hugs to you, Rhonda

  30. Oh I am so with you about the lamps. I thought they would be a little different from the pictures when I ordered them. After looking at them all day, I really don't like them, but the good news is my daughter does and so I am giving them to her for her Birthday. So it is a real win. Her home is quite contemporary, so these will look good in her house. I think we grew up in the same era and so we do like the same things. Hugs, Marty

  31. Rhonda..yes! We would definitely be good neighbors if we lived close. I have never met so many wonderful women, (and some men) as I have met blogging. So open, so dear when things go wrong in life. I was concerned you would not find my responses to your comments. I'm happy you like my front porch. I didn't post any Fall photo's of it..just the patio in the back.
Thank you for your lovely comments on my posts.
    Big hugs,
    Mona
