It was actually 108 the day I started trying to post..two days ago.
Out of desperation I dug into my little chests because I am just plumb out of idea's.  I hope you don't mind.
"Precious Patty"

There was a little baby pig
Her name was baby Patty
But as that baby piggy grew
They called her "baby fatty"

Now this baby pig was very small
she didn't hear them saying
How very chubby she had grown
She just smiled and kept on playing.

For baby pigs are meant to be
Cute and sweet and chubby
She didn't know that as she grew
Her friends would call her tubby.

As time went on, the days flew by
And our baby Patty grew
Then one fine day the time had come
For her to go to school.

Now years ago all folks knew
Not to hurt each other
To not be cruel and say mean things
Treat all folks as your brother.

This was a time of childish joy
And all our Patty knew
That is was time for friends and fun
A time to go to school.

Our baby piglet smiled and smiled
Expecting all was well
She laughed and ran and jumped and played
Now only time would tell...

The days passed by as school days do
And everyone loved our Patty
And do you know not a single child
Called our precious Patty fatty?

So you can see that loving ways
Can cause others not to sneer
To not be cruel and say mean things
To be nice...and kind...and dear.

Thanks for taking the time to read this...I promise I won't do it again! :)

My sweet daughter, Mary, has moved and some of the things she decided not to keep she has bestowed on her Mom.  For the yard.  So..tomorrow I have something to share.  FINALLY!

I hope you are not cooking in this heat as badly as we have been.  My poor flowers have been burning to a crisp!
Hurry Autumn!!

Love and hugs,

  1. This one is really good too! You have a treasure in that little chest of Yours!

Cool and rainy over here today, not even my dogs likes to go out in this weather :-)

    Have a great day!

  2. Hi Mona,

Don't you dare stop sharing your poems with us. I know I speak for many of your friends. (o:

And I thought it was HOT here - mid 90's doesn't sound so bad after all.

  3. I would truly LOVE to hear more of your childrens' poems/rhymes, Mona! The two you have shared so far have been quite delightful! And I love the way in which you introduce the "moral of the tale"! So sweetly done and so easily within the grasp and understanding of impressionable little minds. I really think you ought to consider getting these published!

I'm looking forward to seeing what Mary has bequeathed to you for your garden :)

Psst!!! Don't complain too loudly about the heat...when winter arrives, you'll be wishing you hadn't ;)

    Big hug,
    Des xoxo

  4. Hope all goes well for Mary and family. Moving is such a stressful and sometimes heartbreaking time. Sending a hug her way today.

  5. This is wonderful!
I also hope things go well for your daughter's move and I can't wait to see your new yard treasures.

  6. Hi Mona! Oh, I love your sweet poetry and I still think you should get an illustrator and put a little book together! :)
Now are you gathering your Roos and Chicks for my party on Tuesday! Hope you'll come.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  7. Love that little poem. Thanks for sharing...

  8. Mona, the little poem is terrific. I agree with whoever said you should look into getting a book published. On another note, I thought it was warm here but you've got us beat by nearly 20 degrees.I think it feels warmer to me because it wasn't a gradual warming up but a huge shift in the temperture.
I'm looking forward to seeing what Mary gave you for the yard.
Have a great week and stay cool.

  9. I love your poem Mona! And it has a sweet message too!
    Hugs friend,

  10. Mona, put a copyright on these right away! These are lovely and need to be protected. They are your intellectual property and everyoe needs to know that!

    I loved Precious Patty!

  11. What a cute little poem - I wish you could have had some pictures. It was wonderful!

Good luck to your daughter's move.

And can't wait to see what you got!

  12. I love your stories, esp. this one. I think you should do a book of these, seriously. Keep sharing them.
Can't wait to see what you got.
I can't imagine that heat. I think ours is unbearable. I wouldn't go anywhere if it was that hot. You be careful.

  13. Another great one. You have a real gift.

  14. I loved your piggy poem. It made me smile. Thank you for that. Hope it gets cooler for you soon!

  15. Ohhhhh, Another Mona Poem!!! Great moments of rejoicing and reading---these are just so sweet, and little precious animals so capture little ones' attention.

I hope there are MORE and more little stories.

We had our "patio supper" inside tonight, for it's MUGGY as well as hot.

Better soon for us BOTH, I hope.

  16. PS My comment just posted the FIRST time!!! That hasn't happened in months.

  17. It was 104 here today..I have not one flower that is alive. My garden is so sad. We can't water much..if we go over a certain amount, the charge is too high for people on Soc. Security to we are only watering shrubs and trees. My lawn is totally brown except for the grass beneath the big pecan tree. It shades that end of the yard. It is so pitiful here ...we haven't had rain since last fall. No rain or snow thru the entire winter and none has fallen yet. Please say a prayer for us, if you will.
    xo bj

  18. What wonderful thoughts...even only the world would read it and learn.

  19. Mona, another cute one! I'm your newest follower. I'm thrilled to find this happy place! ~ Sarah

  20. Hey, I loved it. You can do it as often as you want......kt
