~I SAW RED...~

Tired of construction?  Not half as tired as we are!

We had a bit of an incident yesterday.  Just one of those things that happen when you are trying to keep up with a bunch of constructions workers.
You see...we came up short on beams, because I suddenly noticed (idiot me) that two of the beams were rotted and needed to be replaced...so...off they went to the lumber yard to get two more.
It was late.
The two extra's would need to be primed and painted with two coats of brown before the carpenter came in the morning.
Early the next morning..we were up bright and early to get started.  We set up the sawhorses, Howard and I managed to carry those large beams out to be painted...and Howard went to work.  I went back in side to make coffee and start my day.
Suddenly (and this happens to me fairly often) while working on the computer and drinking my first cup of coffee of the day..I had a vision.  Yes.  I did.  I had a vision of Howard painting the beams RED!
If you look below you will see BROWN beams!  Chocolate Brownie brown, by Frazee.

I thought to myself, "that cannot be true.  How silly!  He would never paint the beams RED!" and I went back to my work and my coffee.
WRONG!
I was in the gargage starting my washing.  Sweetie Pie comes in and says, "Um..I did something and I'm not sure if I should tell you."  I said (forgetting my vision of earlier), "..well if it's bad, don't tell me because I'm having a really nice day!"  He looked at the garage floor and said softly... "I painted the beams red!"
My poor baby!  I felt so bad for him!

Later.  The dust had settled.  He had a rather dazed look on his face (as you can see in the photo above) but the beams are now brown.
I did notice that when they were finally installed...they had a bit of a ...red cast?  LOL
Oh well...the porch has a roof!
I would give details...but I'm sure you can pretty much imagine ..basically, I pointed,  he rolled paint.
All's well that ends well.  Right?  Right? :)
Hugs,
Mona

  2. Zelda,

I was laughing so hard I couldn't read from the tears in my eyes. This is one of those "it happened to us to" stories. That awful, gut feeling when you realize - oops - I goofed.

I can just imagine how badly Howard felt, but I hope he managed to giggle when "the dust settled".

Construction isn't fun. But, it does come to an end and when you see your beautiful home with a new roof and fresh paint all the nightmares fade away.

    Hugs to you and Howard.

    Blessings,
    Zena

  3. Projects always have hiccups- whether large or small. Most often, they can be fixed. It is just annoying for me, and I tend to dwell on the issue. When it is all said and done, I just shake my head and wonder why I got so nuts about it all! Just my personality- worrywart and perfectionist! I bet you'll be glad when it is all done, huh? hugs, Sue

  6. You could have placed them in fashionable relation to the brown ones and called it style.

  18. Hi Mona...

Ohhh my gosh...are you serious? That is pretty strange...that you had a vision of red beams and your Howard had actually painted them red? Now I am wondering what it was that you were supposed to have known by that entire situation, my friend!

Well sweet lady, I really do know your anxiety. My Dad was a self-employed carpenter and about every other year he built our family a new home. I really do know all the "ins and outs" when it comes to construction and remodel! I can remember at a very young age, Dad teaching my sister, brother, and me...how to paint, nail, etc. I have done all of my own sheetrock and texture, etc. Ooops..got off on a bunny trail there, but I do know how it is to live in a place that is under construction! Darlin', it will get finished and you WILL enjoy all the fruits of your labor and at that time you will look back with fond memories! Hope that helps! Hehe! I can hardly wait to see how it all looks when finished...I'm sooo excited for you!!!

Just wanted to come by after reading your sweet note that you left for me! I always enjoy your visits, sweet friend! Thank you! And yes, Gloria has my "dream home"! I could spend days...upon days...just meandering through her fabulous home! Again...can't wait to see your projects finished...it will also be FABULOUS, my friend!!!

    Love ya,
    Chari
