I know this is not a "tabletop" but it's a "top" and I am sooo proud of it. You see, I used to have this ton of greenery on top of my cabinet...and I thought it was pretty...once.
It was good stuff..but...sometimes you stop seeing something when you have it around so long...then suddenly a sweet friend like Shelia at Note Song clued me in. Unintentionally she made me aware of that mess and I knew I needed a change! So yesterday it all came down. Thank you, Shelia!! :)
This is the mess that was stuck up there! It's going out in the shed!
Sweet #3 daughter gave me this huge white rooster and when I got home I walked around and couldn't find a place to put it. It's pretty big. Then it hit me! The top of the curio cabinet. It has a deeper top so my big bird fit perfectly. Do you think he is TOO big?
And here it is from across the room as you come through the front door. Yeah. I think I like it. I do! :) (I really do think that lampshade needs to go though!)
Hugs and love,
Mona
p.s. Marty, forgive me, ok? :) It's all I had that was new! Marty and I went to high school together...she won't hurt me. :)
Love the big rooster! I had a (fake) flower grouping that seriously needed ousting, which I finally did. The change was good, and oh the cobwebs...
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Laura
I like the rooster there! I think this is much better and a bit more dramatic. I totally know what you mean about having an arrangement or corner of the home I just don't see anymore. Then one day it will hit me, why haven't I changed or gotten rid of this or that .Then I am able to look at decorating or furnishing options is a whole new light. Fun, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteIt looks great, Mona. That rooster is so cute!
ReplyDeleteLove your big rooster! He looks perfect on his new perch.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great place for your rooster to be!
ReplyDeleteWylie
The perfect place for that wonderful white rooster!! Love the lavender too.

Oh, Dear Mona! I hate I caused you all that stress about the 'greens'. I still have 'greens' on tops of some of my cabinets!
ReplyDeleteWell, anyway, I love what you've done with that beautiful curio cabinet! The Rooster is so die for...well, maybe swoon over a little! :) I love the top of your curio and how you've dressed it. You did so good.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I have a white rooster like that too but my fellow is smaller than yours I think. A white rooster looks great anywhere!

Your curio top looks wonderful Mona. The top of my hutch could use some re-working too. I tend to leave things there for years with out thinking about them.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Dawn
It's perfect on top of the curio cabinet. Large things look so good...I need to get away from all the tiny little knick knacks! Have a fabulous day, sweet friend! ♥
ReplyDeleteYour rooster looks great perched up there, Mona!
ReplyDeleteMona, I love the white rooster up on top. Your cabinet is just beautiful and has so many gorgeous things displayed inside. The planter with the lilacs is just the perfect finishing touch. I still can't get over that we went to school together and then meet up here all these years later. Your vignette is gorgeous. Thanks so much for joining the party, and yes this is perfect. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteShelia dear, you caused me NOTHING but joy and realizing that YEARS had passed and that HUGE BUSH was OVER! I kept some greenery...that's fine but I didn't overwhelm it. I still have my silks and I love them...just not TONS of them. :) You are my sweetie blogger friend! Don't forget it!! :)
ReplyDeleteMona
Thank you for inviting us in your wonderful house!
ReplyDeleteLooks real nice! I do like that rooster!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day now!
Christer.
I think that's the perfect spot for your rooster -- he looks quite at home there, and that lavender plant looks great with him!
ReplyDeleteAh! Beautiful arrangement. Much better than the old one. Been looking at that one tooo long. But then I always like your decorations.
ReplyDeleteMona, your change is wonderful! The rooster just makes it all 'pop'!, surrounded by the lavender.
ReplyDeleteYes, Mona, we had a marvelous time ... TY for your visit. It is one of those moments in life that will linger daily forever in our minds of the grand times we had ... looking forward to next year. Sherry is a fabulous friend/sister ... all the ladies were delightful & new friends to grow with.
Have a great week.

Hi Mona! I'm back! To answer you question, no we had the built ins painted. If you'll go to my sidebar and click on the picture of my den, you can see how it all looked before - like a dark cave. Old dark wood paneling. I hated it the moment we bought our house and wanted to paint it. Mr. Precious said no, it's wood! So... :(
ReplyDeleteYou know what? I think your gorgeous curio would be beautiful painted white! It's so pretty anyway. I don't think you'd be sorry - especially if you're in love with white! :)
Be a sweetie,
shelia ;)
I absolutely love the rooster and he looks so good perched atop the curio :)
ReplyDeleteI think your big old rooster found the perfect spot to roost wonderful Mona. I'm covetin' that little lavender arrangement, ya better keep and eye on it! Heeehehehe!
