~DON'T LET ME SET YOUR TABLE......

Ok...now I have to say this. There was never a kinder neighborhood than bloggers. I looked at an older post ... made a week ago..and kept thinking..."why does that look funny?!" It was a tablescape..the one I sort of said was absent minded etc.? Well..LOL ..I just noticed and it registered WHY it looked so odd. The silverware was backwards...yep...backwards. Forks on the wrong side.
Did you ever get the feeling that you would just like to slowly back out of a room and tip toe away and run like ...heck?? Well..that's how I felt for a minute.
It seemed HUGE to me. I was mortified...and not one person said anything.
Hopefully they just rushed in skimmed down...you know how we do sometimes? Then if something catches your eye..a word, a picture, you have to go back and read again and let yourself get into it? You wouldn't do that would you?? Neither would I! Well..I hope to heck EVERYONE who came by just skimmed.
Now if Gloria saw it...I'd be ok...or bj..or Di or SMB...or even my sweet Dena, but ...you know...there are those out there that...Nah..not really. Not in Bloggland. NEVER! :)
It might be dumb..but I'm embarrassed! I really am! I just can't help it!!
Hugs..
Mona

  2. You are so adorable! I never even noticed that! Everyhting looked so beautiful, that it didn't seem out of place at all! Plus, the fact that whenever my husband sets the table, he sets it exactly like that!

  3. Mona...I didn't even notice. Who made the rules for table settings anyway? It's about time the rules were changed!

  4. I would never notice. I don't even know what the right side for forks is. Anything goes around here...as in mostly paper plates and paper towels ;)

  5. How cute you are! I am known for being backwards...I do so many things opposite so I would not be the one to notice! I am a natural blond! heeheehee! If this was the only thing I ever did wrong...I would be celebrating! lol

  8. If it were me, I'd blame it on being a "leftie"! Half the stuff I do is backwards!!!

  10. Are you kidding? We were so busy looking at all the eye candy - we never even looked at the forks! I enjoyed looking back to see and seeing all your pretties again!

  11. I don't even know the "proper" way to set the table. To me, what matters is that it looks nice and it works. You've got all of that covered.

  12. Nope,, hadn't noticed, so I just went back and had a look at the photo and sure enough they ARE backwards. If it were me I would have just flipped the photo in my computer and reposted it. No one would be the wiser. But I'm kinda sneaky that way... LOL

  13. Me neither. Didn't notice. I'm sort of famous round there here parts for my lack of observance. :-) Been there, done that. Don't sweat it, Mona. Anyone worth their salt will admit they've done something similar. Now which side does the fork go? LOL

  14. I didn't even notice until you mentioned it! But now I've had a very good chuckle. That is just like something I would do. I really love your blog!

  15. ya know what???? even if I did pay really close attention to the silverware...(and I always look at the patterns) I would not have even noticed!!! lol...I am usually just so distracted by the pretty dishes and the talent that goes into a tablescape....and being all jealous that I CAN'T do it myself...that I don't even notice ...lol
I'd probably think I was doing it wrong all these years...lol
oh...and blog land is full of wonderful kind hearts isn't it?

  16. Oh goodness! You should see how I set the table...I throw a napkin down on the right hand side and all the silverware goes on it! Never you mind, your table is beautiful! Hugs, ;)

  17. Oh, silly girl. I always set my table backwards. I am a lefty who belongs to a fam where the lefties outnumber the righties. We sit the right handed people on the corners. That said, if ya came to my house the silver would be in the wrong place. Hubby just thinks everyone else sets their table wrong. No sweatin' over the small stuff. Heeeheeehee! If that ain't the pot callin' the kettle black.

Have a wonderful day sweet Mona!

  20. I laughed at this because it's totally something I would also do and not notice until it was too late! Don't worry Mona, we all know you actually know how to set a table.

  21. I would never have noticed that! I´m both right and left handed so I do that all the time :-) :-)
    Have a great day now!

  22. Mona, you are perfect in my eyes! We all can't be Martha. Besides I don't think any of us have that kind of energy. LOL
    Hugs, Sue

BTW, I didn't notice. I thought everything looked beautiful!

  23. Mona, I have been so remiss in visiting all of my favorite blogs, so this early morning I am trying to catch up. I read this and had to go find your post- you gave me a little chuckle, because, quite honestly, I do not think I would ever have even noticed! too busy looking at everything else that is so pretty.
I love your tree with the plates on it, I enjoyed seeing your home with all its holiday finery, and I have just plain been happy to catch up with what is going on in your life. I hope your health improves and that you experience no more issues. I'll say a little prayer for you and hope that God answers.
I count myself lucky that I didn't injure myself more than having this crazy closed head injury. I am still dizzy but am much better than 5 weeks ago. Enjoy this blessed season with your family and friends. I will be back to visit soon. lots of Christmas hugs, Sue

  24. O, sweet Mona...I never noticed this, either. And, for one thing...everyone seems to put their flatware in different places any more. I see soup spoons at the top of the plates, turned over...I see knives placed on the plate...I see silverware IN the plate...all kinds of ways. I think the rules are so much more relaxed than when we were young...and I love it that way....so don't fret your pretty little self about this....no one minds at all when we make these little booboos...I love the relaxed look, myself!! and I love you, too!!
    hugs

  25. Oh Mona you are so precious. I never noticed it. I only see pretty table settings...I would have to refer to my books if I was going to set a table properly! I'm with BJ, nowadays creativity is the rule :)

    Dena
