~SEPTEMBER SONG ~

September... and unpacking my Autumn pretties...signals shorter and shorter day..

Autumn is my favorite time of the year. I am not even sure why. My birthday is in the Fall? October. It turned very sad for me..but at the same time I love it so much. The rich colors...deep reds and golds..something... and my favorite song is "September Song." It was very last song my husband, Patrick and I ever danced to.

This is one of the things I love getting out each Autumn. An old Fitz and Floyd that most of you have probably already seen. The little quail salt and peppers are so sweet. Have you ever seen baby quail? The are no bigger than your thumb..adorable and SO fast!

This is an old wine barrel that I used to make a water feature on our patio. The rack the pump sits on was carefully built and bolted into place. See the little iron birds sitting nearby? The black eyed Susan vines will be beautiful next year. They are a new addition. Nothing fancy..but those old wine barrels are getting more and more difficult to find.

And the iron gate was purchased from a garage sale this past Saturday. I did have another shorter one there..but this works much better for what I am planning. The blinds will be changed out next Spring for white ones...lots of plans.. :) Lots!

We still have 17 days of Summer and look at us. We are still burning here in California...it is still miserably hot..although today it was degrees cooler..
and here we are at Labor Day weekend. We noticed today that it was beginning to get dark earlier. :)

Enjoy this beautiful Saturday. I am off early in the morning to hit the garage sales!
Be safe!
Love and hugs..
Mona

  1. Well You could send some of Your heat to us. Yesterday we only reached 57 and it´ll be much the same today. But that will give me a perfect exuse to start a fire in my kitchen stove :-)

But living so close to wine disticts, can´t You get one from a Wine producer? Over here they are almosty impossible to get, if one doesn´t want to buy a cheap replica that only holds for a year or so.
    Have a great day now!

  2. Good morning Mona! I couldn't get my Pink Saturday post done last night 'cause hubby wanted to play on the computer. I woke up about 3am so decided I'd get it done then.

Your quail pieces are so pretty. Love the water feature too. They make a space so calming don't they?

Enjoy your treasure hunting this morning. I'm cleaning house to get ready for our annual family gathering tomorrow. I've been so busy I don't even have the meal planned, much less a grocery list ready. I'll be winging it today!

  4. I also love Autumn the very best and so chose to be born in October, many years ago. The warm days and cold nights, colored leaves skittering down the lane, the wonderful holidays. . .it is a magical time.

  6. Just love it! I have a pair of quail who has nested in my cottage garden that wraps around the deck and front of my house. They raised two broods this year and have calmed me with their songs of Bob-White. Have a greatly blessed weekend beautiful lady!!!

  8. Have fun today at the garage sales! I'm an autumn kinda gal too. Enuf of summer already, but it seems to be disappearing quickly this year. If it returns I have my big boots on to boot it out again.

  10. Mona, I forgot to mention, my birthday is in October too, close enough to halloween that my birthday cakes were always halloween themed when I was little!

  11. Hi Mona,

I love the water feature. I have always wanted to do one here but haven't been able to get it done.

I went to a celebration in a town nearby... called the Loose Caboose. It was a craft and antique event. It brought you to mind, especially when I saw a little roaster poking out of a window.

Hope you have a nice labor day.

  12. Hi Mona!!

You have so many co0l outdoor features. And I love the new things you have found!! Looks like you are yearning for fall and I don't blame you with the heat. We have been so fortunate that we have had a mild summer. I don't want it to end as our cold has to be worse than your heat!! lol!!

Love the music. It is sweet...

    xoxo

  15. G'morn Mona ~ I love September song ... my birth month, a Libra, the scales of balance & fairness. We reaffirmed our vows in September.

What lovely memories & moments you had with Patrick, to cherish forever.

Your gardens are inviting & very pretty. We, too, have the oak wine barrels & they are becoming hard to find.

TY for the tour, it was great fun. Have a lovely weekend. TTFN ~ Marydon

  16. Hi Mona, I don't think I've seen the Fitz and Floyd you have. It is truly gorgeous. Sorry it's taken me so long to get around. With everything else this weeek "major" computer problems. Thankfully, they got the laptop up and running before the other one went officially down. I hope you're having a super Labor Day Weekend... hugs ~lynne~
