~OH NO..not another ROOSTER...~

Now be nice! I couldn't help it. Dena bought a cutie at a thrift shop...and all I could find was a painting. Yes, yes, it was cute, and yes I love the way the frame turned out...however...the search has been on for a rooster lamp. I wanted BIG one for the sofa table in the dining room. So far nothing. Yes, this was a catalog find..and you all probably know exactly the catalog...but...he was just so doggoned sweet. I fought the urge. Well..I DID!! (stamping foot here!) No..really..I tried. From now on..it's thrift shops only. But..I mean just LOOK at him. Isn't he cute?? (Christer...shhhh.. :)

I used to try and whistle when I was a little girl. Everyone tried to teach me. All the cousins..Granddaddy, Uncle Earl. I would walk around all day long with my mouth all pursed up trying to whistle and getting nothing but air. Now and then a tiny sound would come out and I would be encouraged. When Grandma saw me doing this she would say.. "Now Miss Priss, whistling girls and crowing hens always come to some bad end!" I wonder what she meant by that???

  1. As I read the whistling part of your post, I was smiling as I identified with your inability to whistle. I can only whistle by sucking air in - a quick whistle - enough to call the dog,;-) but not produce a tune :-(
    Love the rooster lamp!

  3. I love your new rooster lamp. Now I don't know you very well yet, but I believe you needed this lamp - as one rooster lover to another! :)
Your whistling story is cute! I can't whistle either. I can just suck in but nothing happens when I blow out! I think you need to do both!

  4. Oh, I meant to ask you - how's your little doggie doing? I've thought about her and hoped she's better.

  5. Hi, dear friend, now, I don't know just where you bought this prcious lamp but I KNOW you needed it, so don't go feeling all bad about buying it.
I, too am just dieing for a HUGH rooster lamp but haven't found him yet. I am thinking I may just buy a big pretty rooster at Hobby Lobby and have a lamp MADE...what do you think? would that work, I wonder?

  6. bj...I have not been to Hobby Lobby in forever..but if they have a rooster that fits the bill...I would say it is worth it. I know that the one I want is going to cost me...a lot of money. The very thing I am trying NOT to do.
That little rooster lamp..is much like I would like the large one to be like. Also...for some unknown reason they always want to sell them in pairs..OR the shade is awful. Always something. I say if Hobby Lobby has one that would make a gorgeous lamp...do it! This little one will do for a bit. but it is just a tiny space lamp. To light up a corner.

Lucy...no tunes here either...never. Just something I always wanted to do. Wanted to do one of those big shrill whistles that stops someone in their tracks! :)

    Di...YOu like roosters? Really??
I am SO glad. I think that saying is as old as your Virgina hills.
    Probably southern.

Shelia...thank you for making me feel a bit less selfish. Seems I am always buying things and NOT always from thrift stores..although that is my favorite thing to do.

  7. Cute lamp. I have no doubts that you really did try to not buy that lamp. It's just to darn cute to have passed up though. What's a gal to do? LOL

Oh you are thrift store shopper too huh? Maybe we can go on the hunt for some treasures when I come out there?
