~SWEET TABLE TOP DEALS..

There were so many garage sales..that at times we just parked the car and walked.
However..there was very little I found that I wanted or needed.
Here are a couple of things..

..but first....
This little guy sat on a perch right in front of my living room window this morning.  Didn't move.
An half hour..no movement.  PH came to peek and said "is he breathing?"  I answered "dunno.."
another twenty minutes..and finally I couldn't stand it..and opened the screen door.
Walked right up to him..and ZOOM he was gone.  :)  What a nice start to our day!
After about four garage sales and nothing..following my visit to the sweet little cottage, I found these.
They are Corning's French White stoneware.  Not a flea bite..gorgeous..and..

...there were three of them!  Price? $2.00!  Yes, two dollars for all three and the lid.
Love it!

And books of course.   I found four, one of which I already have, but this one, The Painted House is to loan out.  Vivien Liegh has always interested me so I think I will enjoy this one.  Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby is another I've wanted to read but have not come across in a garage sale.  Three were paper backs which I seldom buy..but I really wanted these books.  The Street Lawyer may be another one I give away.  I think I have it too.   No matter.  For 25 cents each..it's a deal!

A Zuchini, a squash and another tomato plant..for a dollar...yes indeed.  It's the beginning of my little big container garden on the patio.  I promised not to plant anything else...except these!  :)
********************

We went out to breakfast (waffles) as I already told you, and right near the bakery is this little shop.  Gardeners Cottage...so I took a stroll through while waiting for my waffles and Patient Husband read the morning paper...Yeah..it's the kind of neat place where you can do that and be totally comfy!

I wasn't really shopping..I mean not REALLY, but you know how it is when you suddenly see something and it just grabs you?  Well, this tray did that.
Problem??

I put my pretties on it and my pretty sort of disappeared ... I might add that I love trays!  Handy things, trays.

Oh..and before I forget...

I also saw this lovely dragonfly.  His wings are sort of sparkly and when you pull on him he bounces just like my li'l green frog.

Nice day, Saturday.
As I said, I didn't find much at the garage sales, but seeing that little house with the perfect front yard, chatting at Patient Husband and directing his parking etc...just made for an all around fun day..waffles topping it all off.

Have a wonderful, fantastic tomorrow.. :)
Mona

  1. Mona, I can't believe the prices you pay for things. I can understand the price of the books, but that corning wear. Unheard of prices. Sound like the perfect day, topping it off with
    waffles.

  2. Hi Mona Sweetie...
Oh what a wonderful time you had. I can't believe that you got things for such a steal, we pay alot more for them here in the valley.

Love the corning ware. You walked away with that sweet friend. You sure did. And they look mint as well.

Love the tray that you found for all of your silver treasures. They look so lovely on it. I always seem to find a little treasure when I browse these wonderful little shops. DH usually sits patiently at the table as well, reading or just contemplating what I am going to bring back with me. LOL...

I love your patio area. Your swing is gorgeous out there. Do you have a quilt up top? I need a better look at that sweet friend. It is gorgeous. Just gorgeous. You have a very beautiful and peaceful area to sit and relax. I am coming over for tea.

Thank you for sharing dear one. I hope you have a beautiful day tomorrow. I love the photo of you in your previous post, and that ladies beautiful garden TDF. Love that little bunny. Isn't he sweet?

Many hugs and much love, Sherry

  6. Yes, you did well Mona. The tray is quite unusual, combining flowers with a chequer-board pattern. It does look nice with your silverware on it. The plants look healthy and I'm sure will do well.
I think that The Great Gatsby is one of those books that people don't part with, don't you think? That's why you don't see many in the garage sales.
Over here we have more Charity Shops or Thrift Stores as you know them there. These are places where people bring what they don't want anymore and buy something that takes their fancy. They are so popular and so well served that the turnover is very high in terms of new goods. If you go in one day and then again the next, you find a whole new display of goods.

  7. Great finds at bargain prices, and then there is that tray! So pretty, with or without your treasures on it.

Hummingbirds are fascinating, aren't they? Sounds like my kind of Saturday.

  15. Oh dear! So love that canopy over the bed....we have a four poster bed, and Lester has instructed me to make mosquito nets for it, so I bought some muslin but am finding it a bit dull. Then a thought flashed in to make a patchwork 'roof', then I saw that divine 'roof' on yours. It is no good. I have to make a similar one! Drat! That is going to take ages and mozzie season is almost upon us, so am off to make a start! A great idea you have given me!

  16. Hi Mona- What a great day you had. You will love Gatsby...better than the movie (as usual). I have a whole box of books to give to a friend here. I finally figured I was only keeping the ones KNEW I would like to re-read.

I love trays, too. I have several and am always changing them around. Love them in the summer for toting things to the patio.

Cute dragonfly AND I am trying to lure some hummers here. I used to have them and then they disappeared a couple of years ago. I got new feeders this year-so we will see. xo Diana

  17. Hi Mona, been away from blog reading for a week or so and sooo much to catch up on. What great deals you always seem to come up with at the yard/garage sales! I enjoy prowling around our 2 local thrift stores, but have promised Grenville that anything I find will be sent or given to someone else. After all, it's the challenge of the find more than the possession, isn't it? I enjoyed seeing that cute cottage with the lovely blooms, but then thought of all the work involved in planting and maintaining. I have cut way down on planint flowers around our home, but have put our several pots with gernaiums of multi colors...easy care!

  20. Mona - love the corning wear and 2.00 is a great price - WOW, you really got a deal. I love the hummingbird - we get a lot of hummingbirds and really enjoy just sitting on the deck and watching them. WE have a family of blue jays and also cardinals and love these birds.
I love your tray and even though its covered with silverware, you can still see the bottom - Nice
Thank you so much for the very nice note you wrote to me. I really do appreciate the time you took to write it and it was much enjoyed.
I am smiling here as I think of the sweet reference to "Patient Husband" - you are a most lucky girl to have such a sweet guy - blessed is what you are.
Take care and have a great day.

  24. Hi Mona - Thanks for the private email and the time you took to go that route. I do not mind you answering and filling my comment setion to answer me that way. I did not put my email under photo, just for the simple fact that I do not know WHO is replying to me and do know of people having problems with the NUTS out there. No offence, to any other bloggers but ya'll know what I'm talking about, so answer anytime right on my blog Mona. I love hearing from you, until I figure this thing out. That way you don't have to make a special trip to email. Thanks - you are a dear and I do enjoy reading your posts, eh :)

  34. Hello Mona,
I first found your blog a month ago and I read every single thing I could. I felt like I got to "know" you personally. I forgot to bookmark it and since I've recently discovered blogs, and reading so many, I lost you! I've searched for you on every blogger's list of blogs they follow. Finally...I found you mentioned again on "A Stroll Through Life"! I couldn't believe it...here you are again, doing all the things I love to do. In Florida, in the Orlando area, we have discovered wonderful Estate sales. Each weekend, we look for them and it's become something hubby (Ron) and I live to do now. You and I have so much in common there. I must be careful though, as I will look like a hoarder if I don't find places for my treasures. I enjoy your blog and share your interests...keep finding those bargains! I'm trying to set up my own blog, but finding it not that easy. When I figure it all out and make it public, I would love for you to visit me too. Love and hugs from a new follower, Joyce
